Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!
a gazillion DVDs and a buncha EchoBridge BD junk as usual. Additionally saw 'Purge', 'El Chicano' and 'The Curse of La Llorona'. Picked up the last one, something tells me am in for hurt

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!
The Curse of La Llorona is nominally related to The Conjuring movies but it's by far the weakest entry in the Conjuring universe. Completely forgettable ghost movie.

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!
Dollar Tree stores (along with Dollar General stores) are so plentiful that it's easy to stop by several when traveling. I did so last weekend and found 1 store with a huge selection. I attribute it partly to it being in the corner on a shelf. I've never seen them located there before.
I picked up several DVDs which were of interest. Also found and bought the following on BD: Arcitc, The Art of Self-Defense & Teen Spirit. |
Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!
Supposedly a new wave is hitting this week. I came across stock on BD like Bel Canto, Gloria Bell, The Emoji Movie, several Echo Bridge titles with the Walmart sticker still on them, Downsizing, etc.
|
Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!
Might have discovered this latest wave. Found a wire rack with media near one of the registers.
Picked up the first season of Preacher on BD. Also, a Mill Creek double feature of Reservation Road & Return to Paradise. I also bought one DVD I hadn't seen before, LBJ. |
Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!
I recent went to dt after staying away for med reasons and now they finally added a metal rack i seen in youtube videos of other media seekers looking for good stuff like 4 or 5 box below, then a display rack close to front had like stacks of media by chance so guessing they got alot boxes and not many know or dont care for the media like before cause maybe price change or not many wanna search for any gold so to speak since it was most i guess b and less movies mixd bluray or combo bluray and dvd any. i did by chance find 3 i wanted to get even if got go so many i think and really try limit cause price and move anytime later. but was way more media besides any cds by chance but was alot cds in past but think shoppers cared more for cds then movies any at time lol. almost grabbed a cd but wa not much for it or not know singer or group till checkd and by time go back it was got or sold for any reason so no biggy. i went for needs as well and didnt really plan to get media but brain kicked inwhen enter place and checkd lol. nice i checkd to score i think some good decent stuff. was a lot of repeats of some movies all was most dvd and scattered bluray any. almost got alot but knew i had to get needs so was real picky what i got. maybe go back before move idk gotta give them time to get new stock and by chance get some media worth snagging anytime if not got by other collectors, buyers or resellers any. was cool to see any blu ray but no combos i real want. i do think they going from a buck to 1.25 really slowed seekers but oh well crap changes. and now it close to same as 99 cent store which the store i went to had no media by chance as if sold or got none for any reason. but oh well got something by chance.

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!
Media seems increasingly less popular at Dollar Tree these days. I almost never see anyone checking them out anymore and the waves of indie junk DVDs seemingly sit on the shelf untouched for months before presumably Dollar Tree throws them out.
I have noticed the CDs drew a little more interest when they finally appeared around here. |

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!
That's more or less my experience visiting different Dollar Trees. A handful of stores will open up the boxes and place them neatly in a rack near the front of the store, but that is the exception more than the rule these days. Most are dumped on a random end cap and virtually impossible to browse unless you start pulling the shipping boxes off the shelf for easier searching.

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!
I go to one who recent added a metel rack like u see some collectors show on youtube anytime so it helps alot and then opened boxes any bottom shelf u just pull out and make space u know u not block traffic any. i just glad traffic not like swarm when i check cause not many know i guess but the cds do get sold by chance cause any no wants or left behind. so far saw 1 cd almost got but it got sold before i had chance to go back cause wasnt sure so now i got a cell i can check stuff at time. but in process of moving gotta really limit what snag anytime so not filling bags like before since cost a bit more then a buck now lol

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!
Certainly a nice haul by today's Dollar Tree standards. One Dollar Tree near me had those DVD sets with LEGO figures inside.

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!
One of my local locations finally got some of this new stuff in - I swear it's the first update they've had in a freakin' year. I wish I could remember what was there better, but it was some of the movies mentioned above, & I remember seeing "It" as well. 3 different "Star Trek" movies - "The Search For Spock", "The Voyage Home" & one of the "Next Generations" movies. My wife bought the 4th "Trek" movie & Paul Thomas Anderson's "The Master".

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!
I broke down last year & got all the Kirk/Spock Star Treks at Big Lots.

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!
Yeah i wish i had funds to keep getting more but i gotta move later so i gotta be selective and all cause already have so many i seen or not seen yet.

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!
Stopped by 2 Dollar Tree locations I hadn't visited in long while. Both still had a healthy number of BDs/DVDs on an endcap that were there previously, but they certainly appeared picked through. I did find BD which I don't recall seeing before and I made a blind buy -- the Ethan Hawke film, Good Kill
|
Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!
My local store looked like they got a light dusting of new stuff in. I was surprised to find a Criterion edition of "L'Eclisse", a Michelangelo Antonioni film. Absolutely no idea how good it is or anything, but there was no way I was leaving a $1.25 Criterion Blu Ray behind.

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!
I hit a DT Wednesday for the first time in ages. Not a single movie in the place (I asked).

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!
I posted this in the DVD Bargains thread because the stores I have checked had very few or no Blu-Rays, but both stores were selling DVDs and Blu-Rays 2 for $1. It seems like they are clearing them out because there were no new titles and not a big selection. One of the stores had a homemade sign, the other had nothing indicating a sale.
|
Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!
So they are ringing up that way, regardless of signage? Not that it might make a difference to me. I'm fairly certain I've purchased anything of interest at this point.

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!
Some stores I've visited have ridiculous amounts of unsold DVDs/BDs. They probably should have done this sooner. The problem is I'm not sure the remaining junk is still attractive even at half price.
|
Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!
Went ahead and stopped by my closest stores. One had a shopping cart filled with DVDs/BDs and a hand-written 2 for $1 sign on top. That particular store still had a normal shelf towards the back of the store with media on it. While there were certainly a few things worth picking up for 50 cents, they were things I'd picked up at $1 or $1.25 a long time ago. I left empty handed.
Another store had no signs of the sale, but they had a dwindling amount of stuff packed into the electronics section and I wasn't even tempted by anything. I'll have to wait until rumors of new arrivals before making any future trips. |
Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!
I am still holding out hope of finding the Benji Christmas blu.
|
Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!
I hit my 2 local stores this morning - one of them definitely had some new stuff. And both store are doing the "2 for a buck" deal. I picked up "Rampage" on Blu-Ray & an Embrace concert DVD for a friend ( was SHOCKED to find that at DT, as was he ).
|
Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!
Guess i gotta check my place to see if any media on sale to score any by chance. have not scored any since last cause gotta move later so try limit what i gotta so less gotta move any.

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!
Stopped by a DT in the middle of FL and the only DVD/BR were all $5 to $10. I did not notice any great standouts value wise and left without making a purchase. Some DT stores still have $1.25 movies, I did pick up Doctor Who Season 6, pt 1 on BR. Dollar Tree is being transformed into a Dollar General store. There are numerous items at Dollar Tree now that are up to $5.

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!
Yeah, I went there looking for a USB Type C cable a couple of weeks ago, which I have never had trouble finding there for a buck (or 1.25). In the electronics section though, there was nothing but micro usb.
I then wandered over the the $5 section, and I found it there. |
Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!
I've perused the $5 section at a nearby Dollar Tree since it first popped up a few months back, haven't seen any media there. The section's merchandise is constantly changing, everything from toys to mops. As a pure value play, the section seems a bit overpriced for the cheap goods.
While I've heard rumors Dollar Tree is getting out of media, I did find a new set of DVD/BD boxes at one location. Not sure if these were old stock but they looked freshly opened. Saw titles like Blinded By The Light and Mexican editions of a few Hollywood blockbusters. |
