Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!

After finding nothing yesterday, I tried the other stores in town today and finally found 2 that had movies out. I ended up with the blu-rays below, and figure I'll try the other stores in town towards the end of the week. I did find my first 4K, Smurfs The Lost Village at DT.

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!

Definitely YMMV. The DT in my area had only these Blu-rays yesterday:

The Lazarus Effect
Pirate Radio
Last Holiday
12 Rounds: Extreme Cut
Dog Soldiers
A Golden Christmas 2: The Second Tail
The Smurfs (2011)

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!

I was only able to get to one Dollar Tree today and the line-up was less than inspiring. Far more DVDs than BDs, with Cuban Fury and A Golden Christmas 2 being the Blu-ray highlight. They had at least ten copies of a Taylor Swift concert BD.

Going by reports, this appears to be media distributors dumping their warehouse inventory. Far more varied than past waves.

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!

Happened to stop by a DT this evening and noticed an endcap with boxes full of movies. Not a lot of BD's, but still quite a few. I noticed 2 of the Twilight movies, Hunger Games CF, Joan Rivers, Jack the Giant Slayer, SS-GB and several others I don't recall. I did pick up the following BD's...Run All Night, The Judge, Inherent Vice and In The Valley Of Elah.

Hit 2 today. It was late in the day, but the one that had the new stock didn't seem to be picked out. Possibly the most mediocre selection I've ever seen at $ Tree. Interestingly, the other store said there truck was late, & they weren't receiving them until tomorrow. They said they would all be out at opening on Saturday.

You can add Mad About You Season 1 and 2 combined to the dvd list.

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!

Went around a few different Dollar Trees only to find one of the most disappointing selections I've ever seen at Dollar Tree. Largely DVDs with a few junk BDs from mostly independent distributors.

The reports on the other forum are having much better luck.

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!

Hit the one that got there stock today. I have NEVER seen so many mediocre titles in one place! Did a blind buy on Titanic mini series dvd, but that was it. 95% dvd, 1/2 the boxes weren't opened yet, but it appeared that all the boxes had the same titles. Only decent title I saw which I already have was opus & Bill The Cat, Wish for Wings That Work on dvd.

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!

Went to 3 Dollar Tree B&Ms near where I live this morning. All had varying levels of stock.

Not many Blu-Rays at all of the stores. I ended up buying a copy of The Lazarus Effect (BD).

For anyone who likes Hammer Horror, I saw BD copies of Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed (1969) at one particular store but they were in rough condition.

Some locations seem to be "favored" for media. I know exactly which locations in my area are always duds in these DVD/BD waves.

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!

I traveled a little extra today to a DT a couple of towns over. There were 23 boxes of BDs and DVDs out--some repeats of previous offerings and the rest junk. Turned out it was not worth the gas to travel there this time!

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!

Saturday, I was hugely surprised by the one near me that used to hold DVDs and Blurays for the flea market reseller. Maybe there was too much for him to afford this time because they had hundreds of DVDs and Blu-rays. I would guess about 20% of the titles listed above. I bought a bunch of nature Blu-rays (Shark Divers, Amazing Oceans - 3D, One Life, Wild Deep), I really like watching that stuff in HD, plus I got Inherent Vice on Blu and a few DVDs (Chillerama, Hobo with a Shotgun 2-disc & some Batman cartoon that said "Uncut" on it -Batman Beyond-Return of the Joker.) I went a little crazy at first and grabbed about 25 discs in all, but I regained my senses and only bought about 7. All but one of the digital codes redeemed on those that included them, even though they were all supposed to be expired. Sunday I went to another one about a mile from my house in another direction and they had a pretty good selection, too. Not as much as the first store, but an interesting assortment including some French movies and a couple of the Celestial Films Shaw Brothers DVDs:Corpse Mania and Kiss of Death. Several of the dvds at both stores had Walmart stickers on them so I am guessing this was unsold inventory from them - maybe from Canada, based on the French movies.
A few others I saw but didn't buy (yet) which haven't been mentioned:
The Adventurer:The Curse of the Midas Box (Blu)
A Hijacking (DVD)
Frankenstein (2015 BBC version - DVD)
PBS Video - Frontline:The Battle for Iraq (DVD)

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!

Seeing news of any finds make me wanna try check my store i go to most for stuff. i know there no promise for any , but can treat self to a drink if anyhting on way home lol. i do so much walking at job , i gotta have a want to walk to place and home if go now since no other reason to go but check for dvds maybe and get any different if no new stock. and as mentioned above, guessing some stores get more media over others for any reason even though we have gotten alot in past by chance. so now i can see it a 50/50 chance to get any now since random posts on forums mention either alot new stuff but only some worth grabbing or just show their haul by chance anytime. have grabbed so much during black friday and all. gotta get that itch to wanna go if any now lol. or just go to any place closer to home so not gotta walk so much after job lol.

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!

They're baaaa-aaaack.

My store put out ten new boxes either last night or this morning. Nothing earth-shattering has shown up, but there does seem to be a fair amount of new-to-Dollar Tree titles.
