In my job, I've found you need at least 33 to be a statistical certainty.

Yeah, Amazon is pretty good about giving you the refund automatically within a few days.

Re: Target -- Marvel's The Avengers 3D Combo Pack with Bonus Disc for $19.99

Can someone on the forums give me some advice on something? I pre-ordered the Blu+dvd at BestBuy before any the exclusives were announced, the BB I went to still had several cases left and I wanted to pick one up before it was snagged. Now I'm wondering what's more cost effective? Keep the case I essentially payed 7.50 for and just buy the Target version? But there's also a big part of me that just wants to buy both.

I'd just buy the one at Target. Most folks will more than likely go to Best Buy and get a refund for their deposit. You could always go and buy the set at BB and return it later.

Interesting suggestion. If you do pick-up your pre-order and later return, do you get the full price (deposit plus balance) back or just the balance? Not sure why I would do that instead of just getting my deposit back, but hadn't thought of it........

Re: Target -- Marvel's The Avengers 3D Combo Pack with Bonus Disc for $19.99

.......this is also available ONLINE now (make sure you pick the EXCLUSIVE version, I almost screwed that up!)....and if you can add another $30.01 to your cart, you get free shipping AND a free $5 gift card. This was great for me, as I wasn't going to be near a store until after 6PM tonight and they might be gone by then.

For ideas, I added the new Mumford & Sons Deluxe CD for $11.99 (same Amz), High Fidelity Blu-Ray for $10.19 ($12.98 Amz), and the You've Got Mail/Shop Around Corner 2-Disc Blu-Ray for $10.19 ($10.99 Amz). Not great prices but good enough to not have to go to the store and if I consider the $5 against these as I was doing the $19.99 either no matter what.

Not sure how they handle in-store returns with regard to your $5 GC if you return something later.

Re: Target -- Marvel's The Avengers 3D Combo Pack with Bonus Disc for $19.99

No problem in store at my local Target with 10 people in line as the doors opened. I went to the new release display located by the first checkout line and they had 10 copies (now 2 copies) of the 3D along with 50 copies of the 2D.

Stopped at Target in York, PA right after 8 today and got my 3D set for $20! There wasn't any sign by the ad, but all of the price tags said 19.99 and it rang up correctly.

Re: Target -- Marvel's The Avengers 3D Combo Pack with Bonus Disc for $19.99

Waltzed right into my local target. There was an Avengers display at the front of the store by the registers. They had the 3d combo & Blu combo next to each other. Went to the back to check the dvd section, but all I saw were Blu combos. So unless I just missed some in the back, there were about 12 3-d combos in the store.

Re: Target -- Marvel's The Avengers 3D Combo Pack with Bonus Disc for $19.99

Ended up getting to Target about 20 minutes before they opened... up until 5 minutes before opening I was the only car in the regular part of the parking lot (employees were off to the side).. there were a couple employees cleaning in front of the store (power washing and picking up trash).. and there were 2 seagulls..

just about 5 minutes before opening.. in came a small amount of cars.. maybe 10.... and they parked.. when these folks got out of their cars.. I didn't think everyone was there for Avengers.. boy was I wrong..

the doors opened.. and all of us went to where the discs were setup... the 3D set was shelf marked $24.99... and they had the regular Blu set (the one mentioned they wouldn't get) marked $19.99.. I thought.. hmmm... maybe that was a regional thing or mistake on the website or urban legend..

then I heard the worker that was there talking to the small group of people.. explaining that it is $5 more to get the 3D set.. but if you want to save $5.. the regular set would be good... so I changed my plan to buy 2 and grabbed 1 ... then I noticed the price scanner nearby..

scanned the 3D set.. and .. it was $19.99.. so as I grabbed a 2nd copy (an Xmas present)... I told the people with the employee and the employee that the 3D set was indeed still $19.99... so basically the same price.. and here it is.. the punchline..

the employee told all of us.. that yes ... "right now".. it is $19.99 because they had price matched themselves on the other set as they orginally didn't think they were going to get any ... but now that they did get them ... the $19.99 price for the 3D set will only work for a little while "today only"....

so the 70 year old guy that was there buying 5 copies (assumed for his grandchildren or that is gonna be us in a few decades)... put his non-3D sets back to get the 3D sets..

basically the employee was trying to steer people away from the 3D set.. likely to allow it to go back up to $24.99... but that small pack of us that were there early didn't take the bait.. (I even told a couple people in the checkout.. who went back to change up to the 3D set)...

happy hunting...

Re: Target -- Marvel's The Avengers 3D Combo Pack with Bonus Disc for $19.99

Arrived minutes after opening and went straight to the movie section. I was the only one in the area looking at the Avengers sets, trying to find a copy without dinged corners on the slipcover. No one else came by in the 5 minutes I was there.

I saw at least 40 copies of the 3D Avengers set in the movie section, and then on the way to the cashier, I saw another Avengers setup on a cashier endcap that had another 10-15 more 3D copies.

Re: Target -- Marvel's The Avengers 3D Combo Pack with Bonus Disc for $19.99

Anyone who posts a Target purchase story of The Avengers 3D BD at Target, please also post how many copies of the 3D BD you saw on the shelves and roughly when you got there.

I'm incredibly curious for what should be the most popular new release of the year how many copies Target is sending to most of their stores. In the long post above, I read 10 copies for 1 store which is precisely the low inventory I'd expect from Target from past 3D new releases. If each store only has 10, anyone arriving much later than 8:01 AM will probably leave empty-handed, and if Tuesday is the only $19.99 day it'll be pointless to catch it later in the week. I'm hoping Target proves me wrong and sends dozens of 3D BDs to most stores.

Re: Target -- Marvel's The Avengers 3D Combo Pack with Bonus Disc for $19.99

Went to the Target in Middletown, KY. They had about 6-7 copies left, but the price tag read 29.99. Then I looked over at an adjacent shelf and saw the updated price tag at 19.99.

The Bonus Disc I got with the 3D set was a Blu-Ray disc. Anyone else get the same?

Re: Target -- Marvel's The Avengers 3D Combo Pack with Bonus Disc for $19.99

The store I went to didnt have any up in the front....and I didnt count in the media section...but I would estimate they had maybe 20 to 30 or so.... And maybe 15 went out in the 5 minutes I was there.... Doesnt mean they dont have any in the back... I am in Eastern time zone so this was close to 2 hours ago... I wonder what is left now..

They had about 20 3D blus entombed in plastic and a bumper crop of the regular blus when I got to the
Queens Blvd. store this morning. No fuss, no muss on getting a copy.

By the way, the bonus disc is taped & shrink wrapped to the back of the case.

Holy smoke, I'm glad I checked this thread and raced to my store because I didn't know it opened at 8 am and they had managed to get stock in. I snagged the LAST COPY of the 3D version ;they have a bazillion regular Blus. 9:50 am at the Allen Park, MI store off Oakwood.

Mine is a Blu-ray, too, though the sleeve says DVD. Not complaining about it at all.

Got there right as the store opened. They had about 10-12 copies by the front lanes, and another 6 in back. Grabbed the 2 copies I was there for and got out of there. $34.99 on the shelf, $19.99 on the receipt.

Stopped in and picked up my copy of the 3D version. I'd guess about 20 in electronics and another dozen or so by the lanes. They had probably as many of the regular blus scattered around as well.
