Aristocats Disney Rewards Coupon??

Not sure where else to ask this, so please don't kick my butt for asking it here.

Anyone know if the Disney Rewards Coupon is still happening for their major releases? Seems like we have a lot coming up this year, starting with the Aristocats on blu ~

Aristocats 8/7
Rescuers 8/21
Cinderella 10/2
Finding Nemo 12/4

Others??

Was the last coupon for the Muppets? Anyone know if they are still issuing these coupons?

Man, what an ASS for asking this....sheesh....

Okay, I jest...Like you, I'm hoping for coupons as well, but it has been a while. Closest I've seen recently are the ones when you buy from Amazon, but those aren't the same. With these waves of releases now coming up, I'm hoping they'll have a Buy 2 Save $10 or something to that effect. I'm guessing we'll hear something before next Tuesday. Nothing on the Disney Movie rewards site either yet. Here's to hoping.

Re: Aristocats Disney Rewards Coupon??

The first 2 you list I would not consider to be "major" releases, but almost for certain there will be coupons for Cinderella and Finding Nemo.

Re: Aristocats Disney Rewards Coupon??

There were no coupons for Treasure Planet or Home on the Range. First Disney titles from the "Masterpiece" series that I remember them not doing it for, not counting blu re-issues (ie Combo packs for titles that didn't previously have combo packs, etc.)

Re: Aristocats Disney Rewards Coupon??

Does Aristocats come out next week? Amazon and Disney's release calendar have it at 8/21. 6 Disney Blu Releases that day (and 4 that I want, ouch, my wallet!):

Disneynature Chimpanzee
Lady and the Tramp 2
Pocahontas (2 Movie Collection)
Aristocats
The Rescuers (2 Movie Collection)
The Tigger Movie

Re: Aristocats Disney Rewards Coupon??

If Amazon has a coupon for it as a preorder, I'd say there's a 99% chance that Disney will have one also. The only difference is that the Amazon coupons have lately been more (typically $8) than the ones Disney puts out (which have recently been $5). Amazon had coupons for Lady & the Tramp 2, Pocahontas 2 Movie Collection, The Aristocats, The Rescuers 2 Movie Collection, The Tigger Movie, Finding Nemo (but only for the 3D version), and Cinderella (but only for the version with the digital copy).

You are correct, sir. My mistake. 8/21 it is.

I wish they would not lump in the crappy sequel (e.g. Pocahontas) with the original. Resucuers 2, on the other hand, was a solid sequel. Maybe the ONLY solid non-Pixar sequel.

Interesting point from the other poster on what defines a 'classic' ~ I think of the Rescuers and Aristocats in close (but not quite the same) ballpark of Lady and the Tramp and Cinderella. Meh. Guess that is a Disney call.

And Rescuers Down Under is also the only sequel that is part of Disney's "Masterpiece" (or "Animated Classic" if you prefer) series (unless you count the recent "Winnie the Pooh" film as a sequel, then that's the only other). EDIT: Forgot that Fantasia 2000 is also part of the series. That and the Resuers set do not bother me. I would pefer not to own Fox and the Hound 2 or Pocohontas 2 if I had a choice.

I think the only other sequel that even got a Theatrical release is The Jungle Book 2, and even that is not considered part of the series. The rest is direct to DVD crap that I would prefer to forget.

Return to Neverland got a theatrical release.

Also, here's a handy list to help you track which Disney film belongs to which series:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...mated_features

Whatever you think of a specific film's qualities, the term "Disney Animated Classic" has a specific definition, which encompasses the 53 listed films.

Re: Aristocats Disney Rewards Coupon??

I thought this might be a candidate for Best Buy's U&S promo, but it seems that Aristocats doesn't actually come out until 8/21. OP's date is incorrect (at least for the US). Maybe we'll see a coupon in the coming weeks.

With Rescuers and Aristocats same day, I'd normally expect one of the stores to offer 8-10 off when you buy both.

Re: Aristocats Disney Rewards Coupon??

I agree with Schloob1 and tbender's predictions that the major releases and those that Amazon had coupons for will probably get Disney coupons, but they will probably only be $5. Aristocats and Great Mouse Detective will almost certainly not have a Disney coupon, nor will any other Disney BD that is under $20 (like the upcoming Pete's Dragon) on Amazon. I'm almost certain Cinderella and Finding Nemo will have coupons, but the rest are maybes... probably 50-75% chance.

As Scarlet would say: I'll worry about it tomorrow. Or in this case I'll worry about it on the Thursday/Friday before each BD is to be released. By then I hope we have BB/Target ad scans and word on the coupons (which usually go active on Friday). I'm also less confident that Walmart will carry some of these titles considering they couldn't bother to carry Treasure Planet. Walmart is seriously working to becoming my source of BDs just once per year... on Black Friday.

The bottom line is we won't know until we know. That reminds me of another great line from an obscure underappreciated movie: "It'll be done when it's done, but that's just an approximate guess."

I realize that, and at one time, the same series was called the "Masterpiece Collection", which is why I used both names. Also why I refrenced Treasure Planet and Home on the Range as the first flims from that series which did not recieve coupons (even though some people may not wish to refer to them as "classics")

I wish they did this for all of them! I like that you get both movies for the same price (and same size case) as just the original. I find it annoying when they do things like sell Lady and the Tramp II as a separate movie--I'd rather they just lump it in with the original. The thing I don't like is when they make the sequels only initially available as part of some ridiculously over-sized/over-priced elaborate set (re: Lion King, Cinderella) rather than a simple multi-disc, space-saving case.

Has (or had)? I just pulled up the Amazon page, and didn't see a coupon.

Had sorry. I think almost all (if not all) of the 8/21 releases had coupons, but they were up a while ago and aren't available anymore.

Yes. Lady and the Tramp 2, Pocahontas (2 Movie Collection), Aristocats, The Rescuers (2 Movie Collection),The Tigger Movie had $8 off coupons when they first appeared on Amazon. I just checked my order history to confirm.

Re: Aristocats Disney Rewards Coupon??

Looks like I had just forgotten that I had ordered these. Checked my Amazon open orders, and have Aristocats, Pocahontas, Rescuers, and Finding Nemo all with coupons. Seems the only one I missed out on is Cinderella. Hopefully that will have a manufacturer's coupon I can print out when the time comes.

Sorry, "Masterpiece Collection" != "Disney Animated Classics". Masterpiece Collection was a designation for specific line of home video releases (on VHS and Laserdisc) that featured improved/restored audio and video quality, as well as special features (sometimes). It is analogous to the Platinum Edition releases, and today's Diamond Editions. It is not interchangeable with "Disney Animated Classics". In fact, there were a few titles in the Masterpiece Collection series that were not Disney Animated Classics, like "Pete's Dragon," for example.

You are correct. I should not have included the word Collection, as that was a video series, which I confused in my head. Perhaps after the video series came out and incuded things that were not actually part of the series is when they changed they way they referred to it, buy at one time, the classics were indeed referred to as the "Disney Animated Masterpieces"
