I checked out the website. It is notable in that, I saw several box sets (not out of print) offered at above list price. Come to think of it, deepdiscount is not all that bad.

The sale is a joke...they hiked all their prices up so taking off the 20% just gets the prices back to what they originally were.

I know I was just looking at dvdpricesearch.com and when clicking through to dvdplanet the prices are jacked up exactly 25% for the items I checked. So they upped the prices an extra 5%. Deepdiscount isn't as bad as this. I think most of deepdiscount's price hikes are due to other sales ending which most people don't realize.

They'll still get a few extra sales from people that don't pay close attention. I don't shop much on their site, but remember getting an email newsletter with some pretty good prices a few months back, including Delicatessen BD for around $18, but when I clicked on it it came up over $30. Clicked on others and they were all higher, much higher. Emailed them, but never got a response. Oh well, at least I only wasted a few minutes of my time.

Everything I ordered was cheaper at DVDplanet. These are the prices before 20 percent. I also got some DVD's that were a dollar or so cheaper than DD.
BLR : MASTER & COMMANDER $ 4.73 New-Price
BLR : MASH $ 4.35 In-stock
BLR : THE TOWERING INFERNO $ 4.36

DVD Planet was so good back in the day of DVDs. But Blu-ray came out and they didn't stay competitive. I never understood it. They couldn't even keep Blu-ray prices the same as Target or Wal-Mart. It just makes no sense to me.

I browsed their site just a bit right after this was posted and noticed almost everything that I might be interested was priced so high that it was just insulting to call it a sale.
And, for the very inexpensive select titles, the 20% off is pretty much lost by having to pay for shipping when I pay nothing at Amazon.
The $5 off coupon over at DD was nice for a couple of orders, but this sale wasn't good for anything.

Didn't see anything good but they did provided me with this nifty little trivia that I'd like to share:
"Do you know?
The name "Blu-ray" comes from the blue-violet laser used to read a Blu-ray disc. The Blu-ray disc is the same size and shape as a standard DVD but is able to hold over 6x more data using "Blu-ray" technology."
