Website has been down for me since noon. Hopefully it'll be back up soon.

Clicking refresh several times helped me as well to get the order to go through.

Yeah this is pathetic.

Edit: Got my order to go through. $6 shipping is a killer. Made just one order for Godzilla.

yeah what a horrible decision to do something like this and not have the ability to handle the rush.

What on earth did they THINK would happen???!

Thanks, OP, but I'll just wait for the B&N sale. They are cheaper for me then.

Re: Criterion 50% off Valentine's Day

I'm just about ready to give up even trying to order anything. I've been trying off and on throughout the morning and have been unable to get through the checkout process to complete one order. Even with a $10 GC it's barely worth it with the high shipping costs.

Finally managed to get one order in after many failed attempts due to the site going down.

I checked my order from B&N last time and they were all $20 each, which is the same for the things I wanted this time. Ended up getting 3 things to get free shipping.

Only way I'm going to bite on this one is if a $10 GC shows up in my account by tomorrow.

But there are always coupons that can be used during the B&N sale.

This is true, but I got 4 items at about $16 each. Which comes to about the same as I spent at B&N last time around using coupons. I got my 4, so I'm content - and luck the damn website worked.

Yeah, that's what I meant. I use coupons and am also a member, so that's another 10% off.

The risk that you take is that your local B&N store might not have a media department come this July.

I'm a member but mine never had a media center plus who knows what's going to be in-stock at the store during the sale to get that 10% discount. At least this sale I can get what I want.

Re: Criterion 50% off Valentine's Day

I'm more concerned the next round of coupons B&N releases during the July sale will correct that whole issue about using them on items $30 and above when most titles were $29.99. That became pretty subjective and just depended on what supervisor accepted them.

Site's still hammered, maybe they'll extend the sale?

Just checked their FB page. Damn, that's some whiny bitches. They wouldn't have lasted a day back in the 14.4 modem days, when it would take a week to read half a page of badly written K/S.

Aw jeez I'm old :(

I just refreshed a few times to make it through pages. It was bad but not that bad since a couple refreshes did the trick.

Armed with much patience, I finally managed to place my order!

Re: Criterion 50% off Valentine's Day

Godzilla Blu is already out of stock; out-of-stock items seem to be treated like pre-orders and do not work with the sale code.

Re: Criterion 50% off Valentine's Day

Yeah, couldn't get Godzilla Blu-ray since it was already out of stock, so decided on Videodrome, Rushmore, and 12 Angry Men (orders over $50 get free shipping, so I wanted to get three).

BTW, Blow Out is excellent if you don't already own it and are looking for a good blind-buy on Blu (assuming you haven't seen it).

Re: Criterion 50% off Valentine's Day

Finally got an order through. 3 of the titles I wanted were out of stock but I did receive this email.

Dear Criterion newsletter subscribers,

It’s been a frustrating day for many of our fans—and for us. While a lot of customers have been able to successfully place orders, many have not. We apologize for any difficulties this has caused. We’ve done some work on the site, and it is functioning more efficiently, but certainly not as well as we’d like. Unfortunately, we anticipate that it will remain slow for the duration of the sale.

Many of you were on Criterion.com at the same time trying to get your orders in on certain titles before we ran out of them, which caused a major site slowdown. To alleviate this pressure, after the sale ends we will announce a separate code to honor sale pricing on any titles that go out of stock.

And keep in mind that although the site is not operating at full speed, you should be able to place your order tonight with a bit of patience. Just enter the promotional code SWAK on your shopping cart page at Criterion.com to get 50% off the suggested retail price (SRP) on all in-stock Blu-rays and DVDs before noon EST on February 15th.

Thanks for hanging in there with us. We appreciate it!
The Criterion Collection
Hopefully they are better suited next time.

Same for me. Signed up for "My Criterion" right at the beginning, and have literally spent thousands on DVDs from their site... but I don't get a GC because I didn't create a "Wishlist"? What a bunch of crap!

Did you get the free 50 dollars per 500 spent on orders? That's nice of them to do
