I put in an order, the site took it, gave me an order # and receipt, but says conflicting information with "back in stock soon...check back later". Even if I don't get it, I appreciate the origianal alert and information. Very generous to take the time to tell folks about the great deal.

Since there was another post about this earlier, it seems we are believing the "ships in 1-2 weeks" on the main product page over the order status which says "unavailable"? Normally unavailable means you can't order it whereas backordered or out of stock means they should get more.

This is the same 2-BD edition that Amazon will have for $7.99 tonight? I suppose I should order from Buy just in case, but I'm not confident enough in Buy fulfilling the orders to pass up tonight's $7.99 lightning deal. If I get 2 I'll have to return the Amazon one (I already have something else to return).

It is the same discs as the Amazon sale this evening. The ships in one or two weeks information is from the order status page on my account and the e-mail confirmation with my order. Specifically "Usually ships in 1-2 Weeks " If you are concerned that it arrive in time for Christmas, then certainly order from Amazon as there is no guarantee if and when the buy.com order will arrive. Stock is on hand as far as i know with Amazon limited time deals. If you get the deal at Amazon, your item is in stock.

The page did not say unavailable anywhere on it when I ordered just before 2 (CST). The page, my confirmation, etc, all say ships in 1-2 weeks. Hopefully that means I'll be safe to not order from Amazon tonight.

You may be able to change the shipping option on your order. Bargain shipping takes longer, but is FREE. As it's not in stock now, why pay for "faster" shipping?

There was a brief period, when the disc went from "SOLD OUT" and unable to be ordered, to "unavailalbe," but capable of being ordered. That was quickly changed to "out of stock, ships in one to two weeks." I don't think there's any danger of these orders being canceled. I've never had that happen with Buy.com.

SOLD OUT again. I missed it. I probably would have gone for it at that price. I really want the silent version along with the remake, but sure don't want that box of biblical junk. In any case I'm not getting either at the moment!

No, only the ridiculously overpriced 6-disc uber-edition has the 1923 version (but it is on blu-ray). Check out the Amazon page for info.

I know there's collectors out there who love the limited edition stuff, but really?? $75 vs. $10? (or $5 for us lucky few)

There is. You are comparing the Limited Edition's full price with the regular edition's sale price and no one on this forum should pay full price for the Limited Edition. I'd rather have the Limited Edition at the price I paid then the regular edition at $10.

Its been listed as number 1 on bluray,com all day @ the $9.99 price. I believe that means it is the top seller of the day. Who would have thought there would be so much demand for this title. Earlier this year Best Buy had the big gift box on sale for $19.99. There was no problem finding it in store at that time. Unlike the Ben Hur situation @ $10.99.

Anyone who bought the giant red sea and Heston's hair parting box set and has no use for the silent version, let me know. I'll gladly take it off your hands.

Actually, $75 was the sale price at the time of my post - looks like the cheapest it got was $55.
So you're basically paying 50 bucks for the 1923 movie on blu-ray - still pretty steep in my opinion.
