i think personally for me the buy point on this is 5.99. I heard mixed things about it, but consensus is that it is a visually impressive movie. at 5.99 i figure i didn't spend too much if it is crap (and lets face it, if it isnt Scottish, its crap) and could play it in background at a party, rave or bar mitzvah.

Might be time to pick up these two if the price is right.

I don't know, but it seems Amazon is not really trying. Most of these did not even sell 10% of what was available

This is the usual pattern... the deals dry up as you approach Christmas. If you're shopping in a store this week, you're desperate.

Just added up my tab.
I keep an excel list for each 1/2 of the year that functions as a 'to buy' list, and then as I pick them up, I keep track of what I spent, saved, sold, etc.

Since July, I've bought 167 titles.
Since October, 52 of those have been Blu-rays and the average cost came to $14.59 (pre tax)/ $15.87 (with tax). Even taking a couple titles that would seem to skew the average (the Ben-Hur set at $44 and a single Twilight Time disc at almost $40), the average is still over $14 pre tax. More than I expected given how many sub $7 discs I've picked up since BF.
Haven't figured out what I've saved over retail, but I expect I'll be a lot happier with that figure compared to what I've spent.

Also, since November, I've sold off $650 in old discs from my collection, so I've been able to subsidize about 2/5ths of what I've bought.
I'm all out of good B&N coupons, and the deals at Amazon seem to be drying up so It's likely I've made my last order this year.

Was going to buy RE (Watching them this week) but the raised the price and then put it on sale for more then what it was before the sale (IE: $8.99 Before, $9.99 On Sale, then $11.99 after sale).

Side note, I never got the Litho Cell with Superman. If anyone got it and wish to sell it. PM Me.

Very true. Maybe we'll get some better deals after Christmas for people with gift cards.

I feel the sameway. Why I have not put the cost of last year to this year (Movies). We put them all under the tree, as they come to us. This year there is alot of room where the movies would be at. The deals where and have not been there. I still have change money to spend on movies. Last year, I spent it the 1st week.

One thing I have seen is the box sets. I pickup 8 boxes sets all on sale (3 of them on the flash deal). This year the only one is C. Kane.

Bear with me on this, its going to sound odd in type but if you read it you will see what I am trying to get across.

Amazon also has done some really odd % on their movies. The movie is being sold for xxx, then they put it on sale but raise the price of the movie higher to make it look like your saving money. Yes the movie does go down by $1 still. RE;Resident Evil: Afterlife was $8.99 (Blu not 3D I order it two days before)before the sale, with a price of $11.99 with % making it $8.99. Then it shot up to $24.99 on sale at $9.99 with %. After the sale it went back to $11.99. So by buying it before the sale I saved $1.00, but if I would have waited till today it would cost me $2 more after. Movies are not the only thing they are doing this with this year.

I still don't think i've seen Amazon use anything but MSRP for the list price on anything.

Hangover 2 just continues to free fall. Do I wait until the Combo edition gets to the $12.99 point or bite now?

I think most of the extras are missing from that version. The back cover only lists a gag reel.

He was probably too busy counting his change to have read that previous post.

The price drop on Dune is tempting ...

Picked up Warrior (2011) for $18 (reported in the 12-19-11 list). It's the BD + DVD + Ultraviolet Digital Copy bundle!

Screw you UV!

I do not count my change, I just put it in a jar and let coinstar do the counting. Yes it was talk about before. But a sale is no sale if you are selling something lower a hour before. Then raising the price and then offering a sale price that is much higher then the price before the sale.

Look at the movie I was talking about. I paid $8.99 for it the day before. With a Amazon price (MSRP) of $11.99. Then it went on sale at $9.99 (MSRP $24.99), then after the sale, $11.99 (same MSRP).

Dune, anything new add on this one? I own all copies of this movie (still trying hard to get a Hero Prop from the 1st one). As long as there are new extras, I will keep buying them (Ya, give me another Evil Dead).

I'm holding out for under $15 for the Combo, preferably less... Of course, I'm still waiting for Paul to hit that price, and it still hasn't quite made it...

Anyone interested in Band of Brothers or The Pacific on Blu-ray?

Amazon Lightning Deals:

Band of Brothers $35.99
The Pacific for $36.49

Ends 8PM PST Tonight.

I prefer the Combo Blu-ray set so I'm gonna pass.

Doesn't Coinstar charge you a certain amount depending on how much change you have?

If you redeem your change for an Amazon gift card, there's no charge.
