Re: $5 Bambi II DMR Coupon
Thanks, but I just can't buy this. IMO, some movies should never ever ever have sequels. I don't want it to tarnish my memory of the original...

Wow. Not only did I miss the $8 off Bambi II BD preorder coupon, but I totally missed that Bambi II was even being released on BD. Oh well. Fortunately it's pretty low on my want list and my old DVD will suffice.

August 28, 2011! They sure don't give you much time. I was going to pass on this, BUT... if I can PM it to $19.99 at Fry's and use the $5 off coupon... maybe. I hate paying more than $10 + tax for a new release, even a Disney and especially one I consider so-so, but it's Disney (poor excuse I know). It's pretty rare that we see good Disney BDs go on sale (such as recently at Costco for $9.99 and if you're really lucky you could find some of the animated features at Blockbuster used as part of the 5 for $20). So unlike your average new release movie by whatever studio where I'm confident the BD will be down in the $5-$10 range within a couple years, on Disney animated features I have no such confidence. :-(

Re: $5 Bambi II DMR Coupon
I tried to give this movie a chance, I heard it was better than the usual direct-to-DVD sequels that Disney puts out, but although some of the animation is nice, it's still not very good. I appreciate the fact that the writers/directors of this movie were trying to honor the original (as opposed to that terrible Fox and the Hound midquel), but the soundtrack alone for this movie sinks it. The music in the original Bambi is timeless. The score for Bambi II will always be grounded in early-2000's adult contemporary.

Re: $5 Bambi II DMR Coupon
I pricematched Fry's $19.99 price at Target and used the coupon, for a total of $14.99.
I too would prefer a slightly cheaper price, but don't want to risk missing it either.
I was on business travel when Fantasia was released on BD, and it never went on sale again prior to being "put back in the vault". Best I was able to do was about $20 using a 50% off coupon at B&N.

You really should check out the Disney Movie Club in the Clubs forum. There is a way to get almost any Disney BD you want as an enrollment. It averages less than 10 bucks a BD shipped. I just did one in anticipation of getting the big Lion King set in October as a fulfillment.
Much like I know there are deals to be had at Columbia House, I haven't had time for years to do all of the calculations and catalog searching to maximize a CH or DMC enrollment deal sufficiently to do it. Better to pay a little more and save the time.
