Something Wild Blu-ray is down to 29.99 now for those wanting to take advantage of coupons and the B2G1 deal.

i'm deathly sorry if this has already been asked in one of the other three related threads, but my memory is off - did Amazon price-match these last time around? i vaguely remember them price-matching the newer releases.

They did some of them towards the end of the sale. Their prices have been fairly cheap on Criterion's as of late, some still are.....so not sure if they will go any cheaper.

I hope Amazon drops some more CC prices because I have $23 credit to burn and my main CC wants are all currently around $29-30. Would love to get a high want for free and have a dollar or 2 leftover.

Seth, I don't know if you're interested... but Amazon recently lowered their price on Blow Out to $20.49

Re: Barnes and Noble 50% Off Criterion Sale 7/12

A few questions please don't be mad if they've already been answered before. Anyway, will the current 10% off for non members work for criterions during the sale? And also what is this about an additional 10% off for using a discover card? Is there some kind of link or code that has to be used or do you just pay with a discover card? And is there a limit on how many times you can get 10% off with a discover card?

Highly unlikely.

Yes, a link. Log-in to your account on the Discover Card website. Go to the "Shop Discover" area, and then click on the link that takes you to the Barnes and Noble website. Checkout using your Discover Card.

I appreciate the head's up. It is a want of mine, but not currently a high one. I just blew the credit on some other stuff because I'm impatient

Is it better to purchase in store, or online for this sale?

That's not a simple answer as it depends on many factors. Are you a B&N member? Do you have a Discover card? Are you buying box sets or single discs? Will there be coupons available?

so case by case basis.... I'll be sure to check this thread for updates. Any pointers on what to look for for people who haven't purchased through this sale before?

Re: Barnes and Noble 50% Off Criterion Sale 7/12

I have a Barnes & Noble membership

I picked three titles out of my list of four that I want (other one is M). I saw how much they would cost online:

Modern Times, Insignificance, Yi Yi are $34.79, $33.99, and $35.99 online respectively. I couldn't stack both L7C8F9D (15%) and C7R4R3T ($5 off $50), but L7C8F9D gave me the best deal. The total came out to $69.47 after MA sales tax, free shipping.

All these titles will be 50% off on 07/12 so if I bought the same three titles in store without using any coupons I would have spent around $57.35. Over $12 price difference.

I think the only way it would be better deal to buy online is if the "Buy 2, Get 1 Free" promotion overlaps.

$42.48 if the two promotions overlap and that is with NO coupon.

If anyone else can do better than $69.47 for those three titles on Barnes & Noble website let me know. Also if the promotions do overlap it would be late at night right, like 2 or 3 AM? Guess Monday will be a long night.

Criterion 50% off sale allegedly begins online: July 12, 2011 at 12:00 EST a.m.
Buy 2, Get 1 Free Ends: July 12, 2011 at 2:59 EST a.m.
2 hour 59 minute overlap?

You're most likely going to do better using the 10% coupon code found on the coupon page with the b2g1 sale since it gives a discount off everything and not one item. Getting 10% off two items is often better than 15% off only one item.

The sale overlap is a long shot and there is no way to know in advance if and when it would happen if it did. The online sale though could go live as early as the afternoon on 7/11, or possibly in the evening. Often I've seen the Criterion sale start with earlier times in the afternoon. Since the last several Criterion sales online did not allow coupons I'm expecting to see that again with this sale.

I think you misunderstood the question. The current online prices are irrelevant. It's not whether it's a better deal to buy online now vs. in-store during the sale. The question is, is it better to buy online during the sale when Criterions are 50% off or in-store when they are 50% off?

I think the only benefit of buying online during the 50% off sale would be if the "Buy 2, Get 1 Free" promotion overlaps.

^And if they don't, what is the benefit of purchasing in store? Are there additional promotions or coupons that you'll be able to use that you won't online?

Depends on what's on page 1 of the main B&N thread throughout the duration of the sale.

If you have a membership you should at least qualify for an extra 10% off at a B&N store. Also there should be some store coupons during the sale. Right now there are a pair of $8 DVD and $5/$50 printable member store coupons available. Also I would expect on occasions some 20% and 15% store coupons. However probably the days of easy $13 Criterions are over at stores.

Probably... Unless they allow coupons to be used online for the Criterions. If I can use the 10% AAA code and get 10% back from Discover I might order a few online. But I don't expect the AAA code to work.

Unless you're banking on the exacta of the 2-hour overlap, you may be better off ordering online now using the current B2G1 free, plus one of the coupons, and either the Discover cashback, or one of the other "cashbaq" sites.

I just got 3 CC Blu-rays for $45 + tax with free shipping.

Going Malick and a noir this time around...

Days of Heaven, Thin Red Line

and Kiss Me Deadly OR Night of the Hunter.

First response helps me choose Kiss or Night... I've seen (and owned - past tense - on DVD) both and like them pretty much equally. I'll grab the other in the fall sale. Yup, I'm bored. So, choose for me please...

Thanks!

They are both great and are must owns, but I personally would go with Kiss Me Deadly. Ralph Meeker makes a great Mike Hammer. Probably my favorite noir.

Thank you SBJ!

I was actually leaning Kiss Me Deadly... Just needed a push in that direction. Also agree that they are both great.

I'll grab Night this fall...

oh man, the Night of the Hunter is one of my favorite films and releases...I'll be getting Kiss me Deadly any day now in the mail, I'm sure the release is going to be amazing also, so basically its a win, win. Days of Heaven is in my top 10, the blu-ray looks so good, you will be pleased.
