Are the $17.xx on par with BN's prices now that they changed their coupons? (No more $5 off right?)

With a membership, $39.95 BDs were $19.99 without a membership and $17.99 with a membership BEFORE tax. A number of people were able to get a $5 coupon to stack with the membership discount for a $12.99 pre-tax total.

I haven't been keeping up with the latest developments...are the $5 coupons gone? I let my B&N Membership lapse as I only used it for the Criterion sale. Last year, you could get 10% off online (meaning the $17.99 price) whether you were a member or not.

Yep, the $5 coupons are officially gone and were replaced with a $8 off $40 DVD/blu-ray coupon. Also the links that gave you 10% off online were discontinued earlier in the year. If coupons are not allowed online it could mean additional discounts will be limited with the next sale. Probably the best deals will be if you purchase at a B&N store with a membership and coupons.

So the $8 Off One $40 DVD/Blu-ray coupon would only work during the 50% Off Sale on sets with a list price of $80 or more? Something like the Matarazzo set wouldn't qualify?
And you can combine the $8 Off $40 DVD/Blu-ray coupon and the $5 Off Purchase of $50 or More coupon, right?

They more or less doubled the purchase requirements of the coupon from $20 to $40, so I would assume it would be valid for a list price of $80 or more before the 50% discount is applied. You still should also get an extra 10% off at a store with a membership. The $5/$50 should stack with it but of course it is ymmv depending on the store.

Here is the new coupon.

Re: Criterions pretty cheap at DVD planet 25% off sale

Now I'm hoping Criterion has another crazy sale like they had a few months ago where their films ended up being closer to $15 each. $17.99 + CA tax no longer seems all that great from BN.

Not many people got Criterion Blu-rays for $15 from that sale and I doubt they will again. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but, as I recall, there was a short time when the discount was taken off the sale price but they quickly changed it to half off list.

I found the sale to be pretty much worthless. The site crashed, the discount was taken off list, everything I wanted went out of stock right away and they wouldn't let you order out of stock items, the discount didn't apply to any pre-orders...I'll stick with the B&N sale.

When I look at the product page for Videodrome, it shows me the $17.86 sale price, but when I add it to my cart the price jumps to $22.67. Anyone know why?

Re: Criterions pretty cheap at DVD planet 25% off sale

I snagged Repulsion ($17.47), Robinson Crusoe on Mars ($19.29), Naked ($19.32) and The Great Dictator ($20.84). Still haven't made it through the Criterions I picked up at the last Amazon sale, but figured what the hell.

If you click on the title to get to the full details, the higher price shows up so I am guessing they raised the prices just like Deep Discount did yeaterday.

Always nice to see a guest appearance from LASER away from the B&N thread over in SD. As always, thanks for the info.

Since my brother is a B&N member and I now get charged tax for Deep Discount, I think waiting for the B&N sale makes more sense.

The sale had a tricky discount that only worked on pre-orders. I got 4 titles for about $63 and I ordered late in the game.

Re: Criterions pretty cheap at DVD planet 25% off sale

Between this sale, the new BN coupons and the prices of Criterion blu-rays on Amazon as of late, the BN sale isn't as exciting as it once was. As long as I'm getting my Criterion's for under $20, I'm happy, wherever they are coming from.

Re: Criterions pretty cheap at DVD planet 25% off sale

Is there a coupon code for DVD Planet for this sale? I don't see the discount in my cart:

Close-Up [Criterion Collection] [2 Discs] [Blu-ray]
$21.98 - Quantity: 1
Shipping Status - In Stock

Videodrome [Criterion Collection] [Blu-ray]
$22.67 - Quantity: 1
Shipping Status - In Stock

I'm baffled and annoyed.

If this post is a reply to my question just above this post then that's really lame since their website still shows the cheaper price.

Re: Criterions pretty cheap at DVD planet 25% off sale

There is a delay in how their prices display. I believe these prices were not intended on their part in the first place. These 25 percent sales at DD and DVDplanet rarely have good deals now unless they make a mistake. There was just a delay before DVDplanet corrected theirs.

Some delay... 9 hours later and the cheaper prices are still posted on their website.

But thanks for the info. I was wondering why no one mentioned the coupon code.

Re: Criterions pretty cheap at DVD planet 25% off sale

I ordered KISS ME DEADLY, CRONOS, and VIDEODROME. Prices aren't too bad. Out of curiosity, does DVD Planet charge accounts right away even if an item is out of stock and there's a delay? All three titles have a wait time of 5-10 business days which is fine by me seeing how if the wait is long, it'll at least hit my next paycheck. But even still I only spent $67 and change went with the economy shipping - I have tons of blu-rays I have yet to catch up on.

Anyone know why Kiss Me Deadly isn't marked as a Blu-ray like the others in the title?
