The 1967 Casino Royale is priced at $9.99 (My store had a tag up for it) but there's a problem with the sku and it rings up at $14.99.

I have to give it to MGM/Fox home video for giving consumers a steady stream of decently priced catalog titles. sure there are some transfers here and there that are not the best, but for the most part they are doing a great job with getting these MGM catalog titles out there.

And Bestbuy even though there CS is lousy, its really cool that they consistantly offer these exclusive titles for a nice low price in the first week or within a first week of release. being exculusives they could just stick it to the customers and charge a premium since they are exclusive, but they probably realize that its in their best intrests to make these available a good price.
Not only low prices but porting over all the features from the DVDs, which isn't the case on some of their other titles where they just slap in the DVD copy and call it even...

Re: Best Buy Ad 5/29 - 6/4

Since this is the current BB thread, here's something funny for those who know my feelings towards them. I got an email that they just upgraded me to Silver Reward Zone status because I'm one of their "best customers". :-) That made me laugh. Like Tweety Bird would say "they don't know me very well, do they?" I think I spend maybe $300 max per year there, and a lot of it last year was a GPS unit on sale at the time.

It didn't tell me when my Silver status expires or anything, and I doubt it'll do me any good given that I know I'll never be able to use any coupon on any item on sale at any of my BB stores rendering those 12% off Silver coupons worthless to me.

Picked up Pelham for $9.99 ,didn't see The Firm at the BB I went to.

I read thru this whole thread and I didn't know they were only $9.99,so it was a nice surprise!

I am also finding quite a few things to like about some of these MGM/Fox releases. For the ones that are barebones or light on extras, they could be lazily squeezing the movies onto BD-25s but in quite a few cases, they are on BD-50s with high bitrates (low to mid-30s).

And there are some pretty nice-looking transfers on the label right now. I've watched a bunch over the last few months that look nice, without excessive amounts of digital tampering, such as Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Magnificent Seven, Much Ado About Nothing, Last Tango in Paris...

and as you say, all at reasonable prices.

Hope to find more to enjoy with these new BB exclusives.

would anyone who sees Taking of Pelham One, Two, Three at their Best Buy be willing to pick one up for me and just charge shipping? I would be so appreciative. Thanks in advance.

I was a silver member up until February of this year. Low and behold they renewed my status a week ago without even hitting their quota for purchases.

Atleast the free shipping online will be nice come christmas time. As well as the free napster song downloads and streaming

Re: Best Buy Ad 5/29 - 6/4

funny! I was a silver qualifying customer in 2009 so I enjoyed that thru 2010... I was $35.00 short of qualifying for this year from purchases last year and they quickly downgraded me... never sent me a new card so I still have the silver card but I don't get the special offers anymore

Re: Best Buy Ad 5/29 - 6/4

Had some luck at BB today. Went to pick up my Midnight Cowboy and True Grit 1969 version that I ordered as part of the two-fer. While I was there decided to check on Pelham 1974, despite being listed as unavailable at my store on the web site. The new exclusives were on a endcap, but they only had copies of the Pelham remake mixed in.

Decided to check the regular movie shelves, and lo and behold, one copy! Snatched it up and picked up Get Shorty as well. So left with three exclusives plus True Grit and was very happy.

City Slickers, Get Shorty, and Midnight Cowboy seemed in short supply on the endcap--only saw two of each. (Get Shorty now down to one lol). Bunch of the other titles available.

This was at the Bay Shore NY store.

Scott, I saw your original post this morning and would gladly have bought another, but one was all I saw.

Hope a copy comes your way soon!

Seems most stores only got one copy in as guy who helped me looked up in computer and all stores had only one in stock and online not even in stock.

Wanted this movie for so long and wouldn't ya know it. I can only hope that someone sees it and doesn't want.

Thanks anyway.

Yes. Other than 1 year a long long time ago (back when I liked BB and never had any coupon problems) when I bought a TV and spent over 2K that year, I rarely spend much at BB, so I'm nowhere near the required Silver threshold. I guess they decided to give out some Silver memberships.

I hope when I log into my RZ that it'll tell me how long my non-qualifying Silver status will last. I didn't know it gave you free shipping on everything, so that's a possible plus if it lasts through BF (though last BF many of their BF sale items were already free shipping).

I know this movie isn't exactly going to burn up the sales charts, but since it's an exclusive you figure they would have more than one copy on hand per store...

Remember these are Exclusive for only a short period of time.. Then they should be available at other retailers..

Of course this is true...personally, I wouldn't have been in any hurry to get them, but since they're available for $10 right out of the gate, that seems to be the "buy" threshold for many people on catalog titles.

The website should tell you when it expires

The exclusives seem to go up in price when they're re-introduced to all retailers.

I'm still kicking myself for not having picked up "Almost Famous" at $9.99. You simply can't get it cheap anywhere now.

Oddly enough, my Best Buy had quite a few copies of this one.

I can't wait to get Drive Angry 3D tomorrow!

For those of you who care, that is a misprint in the ad. There is no 3D/BD/DVD/DC Drive Angry combo.
