Have resisted up to this point. Very tempting with the historical challenge coming up.

Exactly. This set has popped up around this price many times and then the usual discussions about the flaws in the transfer(s) occur. All I know is due to the laws I read about, I've got this set marked to buy only when it drops under $15 or they'll have to release a fixed set in which case I might pay $25.

Yeah, this is a tough one. I was tempted to get the first two movies at Target for $10 each; all three for $24 is very reasonable. But there is the issue of the GBU transfer. The screencaps for the trilogy they have at blu-ray.com are really telling. Even if you'd never seen GBU before, you could probably pick out which caps are from that movie because the quality drops rather precipitously from the other two.
I'd probably watch it on my small screen and it would look perfectly acceptable, but I try to minimize these "upgrades" that are overly tinkered with to as few as possible.

Meh, now I might have to stick with the DVDs. I really like the look of the set, though. Blu-rays just look awesomer on the shelf.

The deal-killer on this one is the inclusion of the 2002 "reconstruction" of THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY, a version I abhor. I'll keep my DVD of the original. The real original, not this fake one.

U guys complain too much about a transfer, once upon a time there was VHS and we were happy with it.

Well, once upon a time THEY promised us superior transfer quality and exponential space on a Blu-ray Disc--which automatically meant ALL features on a DVD version would easily be transferred to BD.
Blu-ray was supposed to be the definitive edition.
Now we see a lot of titles just slapped with a BD sticker--DVD features and extras dropped--and we're supposed to accept it. The reason why many BD titles have been "revised" and done right, is due to complaints from forums like this.
