Spotted Gone With the Wind at the Laurel Springs, NJ store, and The Sand Pebbles at one of the Philly stores (Aramingo?)

Has anyone seen Tetro or Casino Royale? I recall seeing them at BB's closing sales earlier this year.

Anyone know if Ridley Scott's 'Robin Hoood' rings up at $9.99 (as opposed to it's listed price of $12.99)?

Re: Blockbuster 5 for $20 Sale (Previously Viewed)

Oh boy... Thankfully, there are only 4 stores left around here. I hit two tonight... Couldn't find 5 at one location. Really pitiful stock.

The other location... I found at least 10 and picked up 5.

The Hurt Locker
Slumdog Millionaire
No Country For Old Men
The Girl Who Played With Fire (the other two were priced at $16.99 - total pisser)
Star Trek (already had the SE DVD and an extra 3 disc case)

A few fingerprints that wiped right off... Other than that, completely spotless discs.

at my BB it was priced 12.99. I remember having a weird feeling about it and considered having them ring it up, but I passed. looks like I'll make another trip to BB early Friday

Yep, I've seen it at 2 out of the 3 stores I've been to. You can also give them a buzz before making the trip out there. I'm sure they would be happy to check and even hold a copy for you.

This is very YMMV unless someone else confirms please dont put on the list. Both my stores had it at $12.99 and had them check this price as well.

Re: Blockbuster 5 for $20 Sale (Previously Viewed)

While I was checking out I asked the clerk if they were getting any more blu-rays in for this sale. He said they had some more that they were going to be putting out but they would be 3 for $20. He pointed to some unopened boxes on the sales floor when he said it so there may be more blu's coming. Maybe there will be some more 5 for $20 stock too. YMMV. I may have to make another tour if the stores put our more.

Re: Blockbuster 5 for $20 Sale (Previously Viewed)

I was told the same thing when I asked. they plan to put out 3 for $20 blus, but no more 5 for $20s. obviously this can (and will) vary from BB to BB.

Re: Blockbuster 5 for $20 Sale (Previously Viewed)

Something fishy is going on to say the least. Should be interesting to find out what happens for sure. I know at my one BB I saw a cart of Blu rays off to the side by the counter the other day and saw a curious mix of titles that would be ripe for a 3 for $20 deal to say the least. Titles like:

LOTR films
Hot Tub Time Machine
Megamind
The Expendables
Easy A

just to name a few, you get the idea. it also makes me wonder about the deal that just happened today and is about to end at gohastings.com The 3 for $21 sale. Perhaps a pre-emptive strike to clear some inventory while the getting is still good. HMMM?

hmmmm, I keep getting the answer that the 3 for $20 is only for DVD's NOT for blu.

Re: Blockbuster 5 for $20 Sale (Previously Viewed)

Tried to exchange my copy of 44 Inch Chest for another film (since it was disappointing). Associate told me I could only do that if it was damaged and there were no other copies of that film in-stock. Oh well, it was worth a shot

Novato, CA had signage this evening advertising the 5/$20 on DVDs and BDs. They got in a handful of new titles that weren't there two days ago, all of which have already been mentioned here. They also got in a lot of $12.99-$16.99, that also weren't there days ago.

West Coast will wait for the East Coast to figure that one out for us

Picked Up:

She's Out Of My League
2012
The Invention Of Lying
Away We Go ($6.99, but one of my best friends' recommended it to me)
Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs

Yes. I had them scan them first if they were titles I wanted to buy. I should've kept track which ones they were.

I checked it at 1 of my stores and it was definitely $12.99 (not eligible for the sale) because I would've gotten it otherwise.

I'm all over the place in what I like. It would be too difficult to say what I like or don't without providing a big list of movies I like and dislike. I can say that I don't like anything with excessive profanity (I usually draw the line at 100 F words but certain movies are good enough to tolerate more (i.e. Casino)), excessive evil (The Exorcist), or excessive sex/nudity. I also don't like stuff filmed with handheld cameras (shaky-cam) like Cloverfield as it makes me nauseous. I could barely watch some Office Space episodes because of the bad directing style even though I liked most of the content.

It's much easier for people to give me brief opinions (like FranklinShephard did) which gives me a starting point. Of course I take everything with a grain of salt.

Went to my girlfriend's last night and she lives in what I suspect is the only place in America where there are still 4 blockbusters within a 5 mile radius. Went by two of them and had a nice pick up. One of them, some idiot just threw all the <9.99 titles in a huge bin that I had to sort through.

Moon
Gods and Generals
There Will Be Blood
Watchmen
50 First Dates

Planet Terror
Up
Dracula
Zodiac
Wyatt Earp

Wow, John Galt, you found the elusive Zodiac, but not Hot Rod....

I didn't get time to watch anything or read any reviews last night and today's another full day of work, so I guess I won't be making a Blockbuster trip again until the weekend when who knows what will be left. I want to read reviews on the titles I passed on first.

Also, as I think was rumored earlier, if anyone finds that $12.99 or $16.99 BD titles are eligible for a 3 for $20 deal starting today, please post! I saw 3 BDs that I'd buy @ $6.66 each if such a sale exists.

I have been to a couple of stores that had them in round bins near the check-outs. Kinda hard to dig through them and make sure you don't miss anything(especially if your hands are already full with movies ).

I wasn't planning on going to another bbv yesterday but would up at one anyway. Walked away with 5 more titles...

Revolver
Lonesome Dove
Shutter Island
Zodiac
The Girl Who Played with Fire

Check my post from Tuesday's haul

When I went into the store yesterday, the girl said someone came in and spent $400 on used blu rays during this sale. I figured it would have been one of you bastards, but whoever it was overlooked Zodiac right there on the front table.

After looking through the list the last one I think I want but can't find is There Will Be Blood. Stopped at three stores so far with one more to hit up this weekend so there is still hope.

1. That almost makes my situation trying to exchange Replacement Killers for Fearless acceptable. No, it doesn't.

B. Away We Go is an overlooked gem. Maya Rudolph gives an Oscar-caliber performance, but it joined (500) Days of Summer in Ignored-By-Oscarville. If you like (500) Days, you should like this.

Thanks, I called the store this morning and the person I talked to said they weren't allowed to look at their inventory for phone requests - he said I'd have to come in and look for myself. Oh well...

Called the store closest to work today and just got back from lunch - picked up:

Beetlejuice
Mean Girls
Tommy Boy
The Truman Show
Wanted

Was going to pick up The Last Station but I'm only trying to get films that I know I'll watch multiple times to make the deals worth it.

They had a copy of Casablanca...for $59.99. Decided against picking that one up.

Wow, that's real shitty of them. Might want to try and call back to speak to a manager. Every store I've been to so far has been really nice and helpful and even offered to look stuff up in their store and other locations.

I wouldn't go that far. A lot of these stores have cut back big time on staff so that employee might be the only one in the store at the time. If they have a line of customers, they might not have the time to look up the titles, much less actually verify that the title is on the shelf.
