There will be some sort of sale on July 4. Unclear if it will be another 5 for $20 or 99 cents.

Worked out perfect. They arrived just when they were supposed to, and work out great for me. The BD logo isn't silver like some people prefer, but I could care less about that. I'd buy from them again, for sure.

It was $14.99 but I guess it rang up $9.99, same with The Runaways.

Were they Viva Elites or just normal BD cases? After comparing the cases from a different eBay case seller (who has been doing it for years) to the Viva Elites from Discmakers, I decided it was worth a few cents more per case to get the Viva Elites. I even asked some opinions of people I know about which case they thought was better, and the Viva Elites won every time. If for no other reason, the fact Viva Elites snap together better makes each case worth a few cents more. The ones I got from eBay sellers are the same ones you'd get with most movies you buy which are OK, but not quite as studly as Viva Elites. I assume those are the ones you got too.

Now when it comes to getting disc cases that hold > 3, the eBay sellers and non Viva Elite cases are really the only reasonably priced choices. The multi cases I got had unpainted BD logos... but who's going to notice that when they're on the shelf?

Has anyone checked their BBV to see if they're running and specials again this weekend?

They don't hold back on selling off titles for a later date. As soon as they don't need their copies, they sell them and keep selling them until they run out, which for popular titles can take a very long time.

The only "new" titles they will have will be a few new releases from the last month that they have decided to sell off because rental interest has died down. Those won't be in the 5 for $20 stack. There will also be a few titles that were selling for more than $10 but according to their procedures are old enough to mark down to $9.99 now (and eligible for the 5 for $20 sale).

As anyone heard any updates on the rumored 4th of July sale next weekend? I know that when they had the 99 cent blu ray sale that I heard several stores say they were going to do it again on the 4th of July. I just wondered if anyone had heard anything. Thanks

Really hope that they do run another sale next weekend, especially the 99 cent deals. I may jut go ahead and order a 10 pack of the blu ray cases from Meritline to get a head start.

Speaking of which, what is their shipping like? If I ordered over the weekend would I get them before the following weekend?

5 for $20 is back! Starts on Tuesday 6/28 and will last until at least 7/4. I've updated the OP with ~70 titles that will drop to $9.99 just in time for the sale. New titles in bold.

Funny thing is I just received my blu-ray cases today and did all the transfers from the last sale.

I ordered my first batch (of 50) from sleevetown.com. I wasn't too impressed with them, bu they did the job. They had the security latch (which didn't seem to always catch), and are a slightly lighter blue (can't really tell on the shelf). Also, they don't have the silver blu-ray logo if that matters to you. Price on those was a little over $31 shipped, so about $0.62 a case.

After buying a lot more discs from the $0.99 sale, I decided to go through discmakers.com and grab the Viva Elite cases that are more "official". These are a deeper more standard blue, have no latch, and have the silver blu-ray label. I was much more impressed with these, and glad I ordered 150 of them. After shipping, that was $62.50, which worked out to $0.42 a case. Definitely a much better case and a much better deal there.

Here's to hoping they do another $2.99 - $0.99 clearance over the weekend. I checked out the updated list in the OP (Thanks!) and already grabbed a good bit of that stuff from the clearance in May. There's a few titles there that I could grab at 5 for $20, but nothing I can't live without. I'll probably just keep an eye on this thread and see if there is mention of a clearance for the weekend again.

TL;DR version - discmakers.com has Viva Elite cases and these are good.

I can't recommend the ones I got. They're shit. Take Shagrath's advice and get the Viva Elites from Discmakers. They may cost a little bit more, but you can see why after trying out different (cheaper) cases.

I also vote for getting Viva Elites. I ordered 10 of those, definitely NOT disappointed and worth the higher cost compared to the other "cheap" ones. They are cheap in more ways than just price.

Updated the title to reflect the new start date. I'll probably check on 6/28 to see if they start early like last time, but as of now it's 7/1.

Bummed there's no Toy Story 2 that's my favorite. Assuming there are most of titles I'll still find a couple to grab. Last time the two stores I went to didn't have half the available titles

It just hasn't been confirmed yet. There is a chance it has dropped, so if you find a copy have them scan it.

Dino - thanks for the heads up on this.

I do have a question though. Last time around when they had the 99 cent blu rays, where you made aware of this a couple of days prior? O was it just on the off chance that you stopped by and they had the deal going on?

Reason I ask is because I'd hate to go in on the 2nd (if not earlier if they start it earlier) and pick up 5 for $20 only to find out that on the 4th they have a whole bunch at 99 cent)

Re: Blockbuster 5 for $20 Sale (Previously Viewed)

Not all stores had the $0.99 blu-rays. I'm in an area that still has quite a few Blockbusters around, and there were only two in the area that were doing this sale. One was 20ish miles away, and the other was about 50 miles away.

The blu-rays in the $0.99 sale were different from the ones in the 5 for $20.

At both of the locations I was at, they had the sales going on simultaneously. There were a bunch of titles that were exclusive to either sale, but there were cases where you could find the same title in either selection. So, you could buy a movie for $0.99 off of one table, or buy the same exact disc for $4 out of the 5 for $20 section.

The way you're going to find out if your store is doing this is by going in, or by calling. Last time they got these in near the weekend and started them at $2.99 and dropped the price until it was $0.99 on Memorial Day (now presumed to be July 4th). Just call and ask if they have any clearance blu-rays. If they state they're doing the 5 for $20, say you heard that some stores had some for $2.99 (or whatever price they start at).

Re: Blockbuster 5 for $20 Sale (Previously Viewed)

thanks for the insight. I'm off that weekend and thought they might be doing a sale, so I'll call them before and take it from there although I'm sure I'll pay them a visit regardless.

Re: Blockbuster 5 for $20 Sale (Previously Viewed)

I prefer to wait for people to post that their store is doing another $5 for $20 or another 99c BD deal, then I'll check with mine. While Slickdeals is good for non-movie deals, there seems to be more life (posts) about BD sales here.

I found quite a bit of overlap between the 5 for $20 and 99c BDs... perhaps maybe 25% of them (a wild guess) as I remember being unhappy many times seeing a dozen or two BDs for 99c that I'd already bought for $4.

Re: Blockbuster 5 for $20 Sale (Previously Viewed)

The stuff from the 99 cents sale was inventory from stores that were closed. Many of them had the 2.99 rental stickers still on them. This included some older stock inventory titles. I was able to pick up a lot of good older titles in addition to the new ones I wanted. This leaves a lot of titles that you might be able to find.
