If any of the extras on the existing BD set were not on the previously released DVD's, and not on the 15 disc set coming out, then I say it's kinda bullshit. But, there are SOOOOO many LOTR extras out there, that I doubt I'll ever notice if I'm missing a few.

The extras on the theatrical BDs are the same as those on the two-disc theatrical DVDs. The second disc is a DVD that's virtually identical to disc two of those releases.
If you don't own the theatrical DVDs, these extras may be new to you, but they are somewhat more superficial than the in-depth stuff on the extendeds. They're mostly your standard EPK featurettes, etc.

Thanks, then I don't need to get these BD's. I'll just hang onto my theatrical DVD's. The extended cuts must be in HD for me, but the extras don't have to be...

As others said, they are carryover from the Theatrical DVDs. The big Extended set will carryover the extras from the Extended DVDs. For extras completists (a trait I'm trying to ween myself off of), the Theatricals (DVD or BD) are required.

Is the set the same as the American version? The packaging looks different, but are the specs/content/digital copies all the same?

However, in light of my last two very satisfactory purchases with Deep Discount (after I had completely swore them off for 6 months with the BOGO travesty), I decided to give Inet one more try. I promptly bought blus of Dracula 2000 and Equilibrium (Alliance versions) along with Fatal Attraction and Black Rain which go for double here in the states versus the sale they had going on. They shipped out on Monday. So far so good.

Re: LOTR Trilogy $25 shipped from inetvideo.com
I ordered from them via amazon marketplace. The BD was Mongol, also a New Line release. I received it; it had different cover art from the US version, being the Canadian edition. It had Alliance on the spine. On the back cover, along with the New Line logo, was Alliance and they were identified as the distributor. On playing the disc, all that came up was the New Line Home Video logo at the start, no mention of Alliance at all. So I'll bet the disc is identical to the one sold in the US. My guess is these LOTR discs are likewise the same, except for some French on the packaging.
No problems with service or delivery; had my movie in about a week.
