Re: Family Video Blu-Ray Deals + Free Shipping 4/13

I'm torn here. They have some pretty good deals, but the only time I ordered from them, it seemed like the Blu-ray they sent me was not new (it was shrink-wrapped but not the factory-sealed way, had no security stickers, and the disc had some either scratches or scuff marks on it). I contacted them and they sent me a new one, but it was the same thing again. Has anyone else had problems or suspicions like this?

The few orders I have previously placed with them were for new items and everything came was new factory sealed.

The only time I've ordered from them was when Twin Peaks: The Gold Box edition and it came brand new.

Never had that problem with them before RoadToPerdition. I'd say go for it if you see something you like.

A lot of the companies aren't using security seals anymore. It may have just been quality control problems with the title you ordered. I think family video sends new stuff. There packaging they ship in leaves something to be desired for box sets though.

Arrgh, I wish PARKS & RECREATION S1 was cheaper. It's only six episodes. That really grinds my gears...S2 is a great price.

Re: Family Video Blu-Ray Deals + Free Shipping 4/13

Yeah, some nice deals. I ordered:
Carrie - $7.99
Dark Blue - $7.99
Hoosiers - $7.99
Invasion of the Body Snatchers - $7.99
To Live and Die in L.A. - $7.99
Rob Roy - $9.99
Secret of Nimh - $9.99
This is Spinal Tap - $9.99
Raging Bull - $11.99

A couple of those have been that low at Amazon before, but aren't currently. For most, though, this is the cheapest I've seen them.

Those are some pretty good prices. I don't suppose they'd dare ship some of the MGM stuff in the dvd packaging would they, as I know a lot of these were available in both.

S1 was there Deal-of-the-Day, a couple days ago, and was something like $8.99 I believe.

Family video killed the free shipping code.

http://forum.dvdtalk.com/10724840-post385.html

I don't know why, it's gotten them alot of attention, but I guess they'd rather sacrifice their "sale" than give up 2 bucks per order.

I just called them out on this over in their thread. Can't wait to see what their response is.

That's a fine way to shed those excess customers. Offer a free shipping deal and then kill it early because too many people used it? There was no mention of a limit on number of uses. Not good FV, not good.

Actually, FV mentioned a limit to the first 100 users on the previous page of that thread. I had missed it at first, too.

***Free shipping coupon***

First 100 users to enter this coupon code at checkout on familyvideo.com will receive free shipping on their order!

SNA8EYEM

Coupon code is good through April 28th, 2011.

Yes, they ran out of stock since they didn't get enough free shippings from their distributor who is backordered because the manufacturer is making fewer of them because of capacity reductions due to layoffs and economic woes. Not having to keep so many free shippings on their shelves will give Family Video more shelf space for actual DVDs and Blu-Rays. :-)

Well, at least they mentioned the usage restriction somewhere. 100 usages aren't very many. Moot point for me since I rarely order from Family Video.

Re: Family Video Blu-Ray Deals + Free Shipping 4/13

I think you guys are being a bit rough. It was mentioned in the initial thread that it was limited to the first 100 orders. He probably should have mentioned it again in the other thread as well, but they did nothing wrong in this case. I actually thought it was pretty cool they offered it in the first place.
