The Mel Brooks Collection [Blu] $46.99 at amazon.com
Mel Brooks Collection
just realized this might be repetitive seeing as i never check the amazon deals threat but oh well. Been keeping an eye on this set for awhile now it includes:
Blazing Saddles, High anxiety, History of the world part 1, space balls, silent movie, the 12 chairs, Robin hood men in tights, To be or not to be, and young Frankenstein.

Blazing Saddles is in the collection now? I have been looking to upgrade my VHS set of this, maybe when it gets down to 20.

I bought this when FoxConnect had it for $48.74 (delivered). I'm actually shocked that Amazon didn't drop the price more dramatically because I'm only down $1.75 which isn't enough to make me mad yet... but give them time and soon it'll be around $30.
The packaging is a large book with the discs embedded in slots on some of the pages. If I had extra BD cases and time to locate and print color covers, I'd pull them out into separate cases, but I don't so for now they have to sit on their own special shelf with other crappy oversized boxes. Normally whenever I buy something like this, a huge price drop and a superior repackaging will follow at some point. :-) Ditto for the Planet of the Apes set.

Personally I don't mind the size at all. Actually, I prefer elaborate packaging for my favorite movies because I like them to stand out. But I definitely mind the quality of them, which the book that holds the discs are just too filmsy and unoriginal.
This set does have a nice color photo book though.

I really like the sets-- you can put them out of the way. Ten movies would hog up a monster amount of shelf space. Anyway-- I ordered this on Sunday (using super saver shipping) and got it today! Wow!

I realize To Be or Not to Be may not be for everyone's tastes. I loved the Jack Benny original, and loved the Mel Brooks remake as well. It's not a typical Mel Brooks film, but it's a very good comedy...

I couldn't disagree with you more... Space Balls and High Anxiety are definitely worth owning, and even Robin Hood Men in Tights, Silent Movie, To Be or Not to Be and History of the World are worth repeat viewings. Twelve Chairs is the only film that may not be enjoyable to watch over again. Having these extra 7 films, plus the book, for a measly $27 more is totally worth it. You go ahead and try to justify your two-movie purchase, but the rest of us know that this set for $46.99 is totally worth it...

In fact, at times I find myself quoting Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, Spaceballs, and even High Anxiety, but at my work most people are too serious so I don't dare quote Mel Brooks or Monty Python much. If I ask if they've seen Mel Brooks or Monty Python I usually get "I don't have time to watch that type of stuff" or an even snider remark "I have better things to do with my time".

I've seen 12 Chairs a number of times, and Young Frankenstein is an all-time favorite. Still need to catch up with Spaceballs, High Anxiety, and Men in Tights. I'd watch them on my copy of this set, but I forget about it because it's stored on a separate shelf away from the rest of my stuff due to its physical size.
