What's the shipping like at these sites?

£1.29 per disc. Not awful.

Re: BFI Blu-rays £6.95

I thought Bed-Sitting Room was Region B. I picked it up for about $15 from an Amazon re-seller about a year ago. Strange film. The Passolini's are great if you like his style. Just watced the BFI blu-ray of The Innocents the other night - fantastic film (my first time seeing it) and a gorgeous transfer and nice round of bonus features (not sure if it's part of this sale; just making the comment in general). --Peter

What's up with these sites? Do they have the same exact stock and prices? Is one preferred over the other?

Re: BFI Blu-rays £6.95

Just a heads up - sometimes there are BlahDVD vouchers floating around that give you an additional 10% off. I haven't used the other sites.

Re: BFI Blu-rays £6.95

I don't know what is the difference with the sites. They all have pretty much the same prices, same layout, same products. Some way to get around taxes? I dunno. But I've had great service with blahdvd, and base.com (yes, sometimes prices differ, but rarely) and you need separate accounts.

Re: BFI Blu-rays £6.95

I ordered The Bill Douglas Trilogy and Winstanley from dvd.co.uk.
The price dropped to 5.79 in the cart for some reason (removal of VAT?) for these two, but not for some others. I had been planning to order these two titles from Amazon UK and am glad I waited, since this price was quite a bit cheaper than Amazon's sale price.

I'm thinking about ordering a few more.

One additional sale BFI title is All The Right Noises.

boo! Its listing Kenneth Anger as region B...

Re: BFI Blu-rays £6.95

Aren't all blu-rays from the UK listed as region B? It doesn't matter what region it's from, just whether or not it's locked. Magick Lantern is not region locked.

Awesome! Thanks for that info.

I have the 2 Fantoma volumes that are OOP on DVD. The only difference I can see is that this BFI version is missing the 1979 version of Rabbit's Moon? Is that correct? Also, how do the special features compare? Is this worth an upgrade?

*Edit - I just looked on BFI's site, and everything looks to be ported over, except for the 48 page books that are with the DVDs from Fantoma.

It's definitely worth the upgrade, especially at that price. There's also a full-length Anger documentary and a 38-page booklet included. Here's a review.

Free shipping anywhere, or only in UK/EU?

They only charged me for the discs and I'm in the U.S.

If you're ordering from thehut.com, don't forget to use codes MAR10, MAR20, or MAR40 if you order 10, 20, or 40 pounds worth of stuff, respectively.

Weird. I just placed an order and got free shipping as well....even though the site definitely says it's two pounds-plus per item for shipping to the USA.
New policy or mistake?...

Haven't been to zavvi.com, but thehut.com is definitely a little cheaper than the stores mentioned above and shipping is free right now to the U.S.

I want to grab one or two of the Flipsides, but I'm undecided. Opinions?

Re: BFI Blu-rays £6.95

Man of Violence was enjoyably trashy, and includes a second feature. I quite liked All the Right Noises, and Permissive was a bleak but interesting time capsule. I haven't seen Privilege yet, but it seems to be the best-reviewed film among the Flipside releases, so that might be your safest bet.

Re: BFI Blu-rays £6.95

Man of Violence and The Bed Sitting Room I have on order. I was hoping that the trashier films would go on sale, like London in the Raw et al... I might try Privilege and All the Right Noises.

I picked up the BFI version of Salo, along with the Green Zone Steelbook from Blah DVD as part of their 2 Blus for 15 deal. I placed the order on Sunday, and it already shipped yesterday. I just checked the bank, and the total charge for the 2 was $28.52.... so $14.26 each. Best deal I found for them. Thanks for the info about these sites and the deals.

So you were charged double and you aren't upset?

I believe the "2 for 15" sale he references is in pounds. After conversion, the total came to $28 and change.

Indeed that was the case... the deal would have been much more lovely if not for the GBP to USD conversion.

I dig it... have had several versions of it over the years, starting with a very poor VHS copy. I'm looking forward to the blu-ray... the review was quite complimentary (over at blu-ray.com - can't post URL links yet). Disgusting, but what a wild slice of cinema.

And yes, the Insignia ns-brdvd4 player has been working great with everything I've thrown into it (just must remember not to update it any further).

Re: BFI Blu-rays £6.95

According to the website and my email confirmation, zavvi.com is giving me free shipping to the US, and the code FIVEROFF50 is taking 5 pounds off my order. Unfortunately, my credit card company declined the charge, suspecting fraud, although I believe that my only prior purchases on that card were from Hong Kong and England. I've tried the same order again, hopefully it will go through this time.
