Thanks for the heads up. Missed out on the car on Amazon.

Is the 'BTTF' set a 'Deal of the Week'? I can't see anywhere that it is.

If so, I can hold off til the end of the week to get it since I'm in no rush. If it isn't, then I guess I better "jump on it".

I think it's a "limited time" sale price. For the deal of the week, it looks to be the Alien Anthology. So no telling when the BTTF trilogy will go back up in price.

For those picking up BTTF, you can also save $8 on select movies

http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.htm...95491&plpage=1

EDIT: Sorry about that, sounds like the link is dead now

Re: Amazon Discounts and Deals Thread #7 (is it #7? I'll pretend it is)

At $10.49 each, Big Jake, Rio Lobo and Once Upon a Time in the West are near price matches with Target (which is advertising them for $10 even each).

I've noticed that Amazon has been tacking $.49 onto the price advertised by the brick & mortar stores. For example, Target has Platoon on Blu-ray for $15, and Amazon has it for $15.49. Maybe it's Amazon's way of splitting the difference with the customer on the tax saved?

Amazon does charge tax on orders shipped to some states, like to New York State.

Nice $5 drop in Once Upon a Time in the West (nearly pulled the trigger last week). Glad I held off

Target also has A Man Called Horse for $10, I just bought that and OUATITW for a combined 50 cents less than Amazon and that's including tax.

But I'm sure Amazon will come down on the Richard Harris title before the end of the week.

Thanks for the link, I got Amazon to give me an $8 credit even though I bought Darkman and Dune a couple of months ago.

The $8 promo seems to have ended, but it was active when I sent my email:

I noticed you are running a promotion where customers who buy 2 Blu-rays from a list receive $8 off. Here is a link to the promotion:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.htm...95491&plpage=1

As I have purchased four of these titles, but was unable to take advantage of this discount, I was hoping to receive an $8 credit to be used towards a future purchase. Thank you very much for your time.
I've sent emails in the past regarding similar situations - requesting store credit for promotions that apply to items I've already purchased - and usually been successful. It's always worth a try, though I'd feel too ridiculous calling up with such a request!

Amazon recently lowered Platoon to $14.99. My impression is that Amazon will first list the title at a price higher than the B&M store price, then a day or two later will lower it again to match. I think the idea is to entice people to order it for a bit more at first then get the serious bargain hunters, who were willing to wait, to order it when they drop the price again. But I'm just guessing; Amazon has mysterious ways.

I tried to get them to price match the DD sale for the Blu double features from Legend (SKULL/MAN WHO COULD CHEAT DEATH; HOUDINI/JAUNTY JALOPIES), but they were having none of it.

OUATITW for $10.49? Well shit...I want it more now...what are the chances that it goes to $9.99? You know..that's...the sweet spot for most of us...50 cents isn't much but this thing has dropped well.

It's a Target $10 price match and, lately, Amazon has been sticking with the extra .49 on B&M PMs to put them more in line with price + tax.

Still cheaper at Target, but only by pennies, if you charge it with a Target Red Card and get the 5% off. I have nearly 10% tax here in CA, so it will be even cheaper if you buy it at Target and you are in a lower tax state. Also, no shipping minimum to contend with.

Wow. 10% tax? Sounds like you guys are paying for Arnold's Alimony checks already. Damn.
