Just a word on the A-Team...

Target's $15 version is an exclusive BD/DVD/DC set.

Best Buy and Amazon's $13 versions are BD/DC set.

I didn't know that, but at $15 + tax vs. $13 at Amazon, I still would've picked the Amazon version to save $3.xx. Having a DVD is nice if it's free, but not paying extra for because I'm never going to watch it when I have the BD.

For those talking about The Expendables, it's one of the few movies I saw in the theater this year, but it has enough action to be worth owning, so unless you hate mindless action I'd say buy it. My favorite part (and I know others have said this) is when Sylvester and Jason strafe and bomb the dock in the plane, plus that machine-gun-shotgun was pretty cool. It got a bit silly at the end, but what are you gonna do?

Regarding Amazon's stock-market-like prices, I accepted that a long time ago just like I do with Newegg. That's why I try to be careful when I pull the trigger on buying something based on experience. The GOOD thing about the November-January time frame is that Amazon extends the return policy through the end of January, so rather than having only a 30 day window on your purchases to rebuy and ship back the more expensive one, you've got closer to 90 days. I ordered stuff back in November more freely than usual knowing for sure that I would find some stuff I bought at Amazon cheaper on BF or near Christmas and I'd just return it all together in 1 package and it would be worth the return shipping cost. I also knew that if I didn't buy stuff along the way and I didn't see it cheaper, I'd regret not buying. So I have about 10 items to return to Amazon now... most of them small BDs except for the Shrek set because DD came through. So my advice is to send stuff back if the price drop covers your return postage + time to mail it, and during the November-January time frame you can pool a few months worth together into 1 package to save shipping costs. I won't even start my return until around mid January just in case some more deals pop up on stuff I already bought.

If I had realized that I would have attempted a price match at Target. Oh well. Amazon order can't be canceled since I used $10 promo credit on it. Tis alright. It's still a good bargain...

Twilight Zone ... I see no reason to upgrade until they get really serious about deals. 40+ for a single season as an upgrade is a joke. Will Blu-Ray make the great stories any better? Nope. I'll see it at 18 bucks somewhere down the line.

To be fair, there's a metric ton of new extras, and an inhuman amount of work clearly went into the remastering. These two boxed sets (the 6 shot-on-video episodes from season 2 aside) rank among the most gorgeous releases on Blu-ray, period. They're expensive, yes, but I paid a good bit more than Amazon's current price and still think it's worth every last cent.

And I'm happy that you're happy. But where was all that "inhuman amount of work" for the last video reincarnation? You know the third DVD release of the series (for those who are counting) the one they called the "definitive collection." So please, let's not talk about fairness. I picked up the first season back two or three years ago on the cheap and perhaps I'll double-dip again a couple years down the line when the price falls like a rock.

Re: Amazon Discounts and Deals Thread #7 (is it #7? I'll pretend it is)

Mad Max is finally 50% off. Under $10 is a given at some point, but $12.50 is finally close enough for me to pull the trigger.

$15 is also tempting on some of those Corman Bds.

Uhh...you're out of your mind. Try reading reviews on this thing before you made a decision like that. Your getting 30+ (28 minute episodes) for a damn good price.

+1 on the free DVD, and thanks for the thoughts on Expendables. I did get that, and am still thinking about A-Team.

This was a nice deal for two seasons of Heroes on BD--I paid $20 for season 1 on DVD. I thought about pulling the trigger but figured I wouldn't rewatch season 1 any time soon, and season 2 got such bad reviews I'm not in a hurry to see it. Huh, now that I think about it, I tried to Netflix Heroes season 1 on HD DVD but got bad discs twice in a row so I gave up and watched them on DVD.
