Because Universal only has two shows on Blu-ray (out of maybe 15-20 they produce) that are still on the air - The Office and House. Battlestar Galactica (catalog) and Heroes were they other two. There is very little interest of TV on Blu-ray, and these family shows rank even lower. Considering the poor ratings, you're lucky a DVD set was even made. If Season 2 is it's last, you might not even get that on DVD. Universal has far more other shows that would sell better on Blu-ray (30 Rock, Parks and Rec etc) over Parenthood.

I didn't pull the trigger on Jason and the Argonauts or Close Encounters before so I'm in now. Dracula too. Also tempted by that cheap Heroes, The Professional, and some others.

Ordered Fargo and Leon, as well as a few other things around 7pm last night. This morning LaserShip is knocking on my door at 8am. 13 hour turnaround on a order. That has to be a record for me.

Amazing service. Are you in an area affected by the snow?

I am. I ordered some stuff earlier this week that shipped out last night...and is already listed as out for delivery to me today. And these items came from warehouses that are also in snow-impacted areas. I'm certainly not going to hold them to the Prime delivery estimates this week considering that some areas have a couple of feet of snow on the ground, but it looks like they may hold up anyway.

No company is perfect, of course, but I can say that very few online retailers can match the service I've gotten from amazon. And when I have had a problem, I've gotten a solution within 24 hours every time.

Enjoy your movies!

Sherlock? Three TV episodes (six hours) for $27.99? Next year that will be in the single digits or gathering dust.

That's what I'm hoping Also I think the price hasn't dropped below $27.99 on Amazon since it came out. Not sure why it was listed as a price drop.

Warner only distributes it, the program is licensed from the BBC. Warner almost never drops the pricing on licensed programs, BBC or otherwise, for home media items. Do not expect much of a price drop, if any.

And those " 3 TV episodes" are feature film length at 90 minutes each so getting 3 films for 27.99 isn't as bad as some make it sound. Having said that, you could have purchased it for much less during the recent BBC sale at B&N. It was 50% off and there were coupons available to drop it further.

Sci-Fi fans might be interested in this new low:

The Fifth Element / Gattaca $12.49

That's $6.25 each, assuming one likes and wants both.

Well, since you quoted me, the only thing I got wrong was I gave the three TV episodes credit for being 6 hours in total. I stand corrected, the three TV episodes are only approximately 4.5 hours in total for 27.99. But please let's not get cute with lingo about "feature film length" -- they are TV episodes so they are TV movie length if we have to do marketing speak. Those TV episodes are fine for what they are, but feature films they are not so let's not try to kid people.

BBC series tend to run high too--e.g., the new Doctor Who

American TV Movies have commercials; these do not. As such, they are more like feature films than TV films. So there.

I'm in for Escape at that price, even if they didn't port over any of the extras.

Agreed. But, a bunch of us took advantage of the recent BBC 50 percent off sale at B&N (while yawning at the Sherlock set - so with my membership discount and coupon got it for thirty-something. My son is home from college so we are working are way through the set. I will say the new cast is terrific and the stories are quite interesting so far. Overpriced? Yes, but just the discussions alone about the shows has been worth it.

No one brought up American TV except for you. This is Brit TV on the BBC and they call them and named them episodes. Deal.

Re: Amazon Discounts and Deals Thread #7 (is it #7? I'll pretend it is)

I know this is slightly OT, but when people contact Amazon about prices they see elsewhere that they would like Amazon to lower their price to match, how do they do it? Do they use Contact Us and select General Inquiry, or is there an area meant for submissions such as this? I'd like to submit a few, but I've never known if there is a proper way to go about it...

Easy. Go to the specific listing on Amazon and at the bottom of the section labeled Product Details there is a link for "Tell Us about a lower price."

the bulk of the Bond blu's have been on sale this week, I should really pick some up, but I don't know when I could get to them.

I'm in the middle of moving, so I am having everything sent to a family members house, and I have bought so much these last 2 weeks, they call me everyday saying UPS dropped off more packages, I feel bad (no i don't)

I know it is nothing to do with deals but I just wanted to stop by and say thank you Amazon for still running sales and also honoring them.
