Yeah, this sounds correct... it's always 5% off.

5% of the final purchase price? That would make sense. Thanks!

Just so you know, a new 25th anniversary edition is being release next month and it's only $10.49. It's going to have a new transfer and a ton of new extras.

I heard they dropped a lot of the Anchor Bay extras, and that they redid the commentaries. I loved the old ED2 commentaries; they were funny and informative. I think I'm going to keep my old version on BD as well as the new one.

I knew it was being re-released, but didn't know about the new transfer/extras. If it ends up looking a lot better, I'll feel stupid. I ordered the old release from gohastings a couple days ago.

Where did you hear that? Because it's not true at all.

Original commentary from Elite laserdisc that's been featured on most DVD releases? It's on there.

The Gord the Merrier from the Anchor Bay tin? It's on there.

Behind the Screams from the AB Book of the Dead edition? It's on there.

Presumably all the trailers/tv spots etc. are the same as well.

The Anchor Bay release will be utterly obsolete. This Lionsgate edition should supersede it in every way. Cool packaging has caused me to hold onto the two DVD versions of the film I have. I look forward to using the case from my AB EDII to replace my broken "Near Dark" case and then throwing EDII away.

Yeah, I don't think I could ever part with my two Book of the Dead editions. Those are still the most picked up things on my shelves when people come over to my house. I'm happy I've waited for the second Blu-ray release of Evil Dead 2.

I ordered the new Blu Evil Dead 2. It'll go nicely with my tin, Book of the Dead and original VHS. I swear I had the LD around somewhere too. Because I need five versions. Clearly.

What?!? Nice! I don't know if I heard it anywhere as much as assumed it based on the fact that I, briefly, saw two lists of extra features and didn't see similarities. Granted, I guess I didn't look close enough.

Does this also mean the old commentaries are being kept with the "all new" commentaries? Because even if that's the only difference, I think I'd prefer to keep my older ones as well. Also, do you know any place that can confirm they're porting all previous special features?

I admit I was surprised to see the Skynet Edition for $5 at Target and $5.49 at Amazon (PM'ing Target). I figured it would only be the older T2 edition that hit $5 rather than the new one which is why I bought the Skynet Edition for $10 at Amazon last year. Now I've lost $4.51... oh the humanity of it! :-)

One thing I should learn from it is that all Lions Gate BD titles seem to hit $5 eventually, so $7 should really be my limit.

FWIW (fiddy cents, I'd say), the pre-order price of ED2 is $9.99 over at DD right now.

Actually, I'm not going to get too excited until I read reviews of the transfer. The studio is Entertainment One. Do they have a good track record for BD transfers? The description says "painstakingly remastered"...but they all say that, even when the final result looks like a poor VHS dub.

I was actually hoping that Criterion might pick up this little gem with its gorgeous VistaVision. It's always been one of my favorite Brando films and unusual westerns...maybe a little bloated (like Brando himself), but with some great scenes & images. I'll just be happy if they do a decent job to replace the public domain SD copies out there (although I seemed to have gotten one of the better transfers).

Also good to see Little Big Man, The Conversation, and some other fine movies coming out the same day.

They haven't really released a lot of catalog titles on Blu-ray: http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/list....ewType=Blu-ray

I seem to remember reading that one of the European Blu-ray releases of One-Eyed Jacks is muddy and brown. Hopefully this isn't using that same master. Also, hopefully it's not at the hands at the guys who did the Gulliver's Travels BD that was also "painstakingly remastered" but was stretched/upconverted from something VHS-ish.

Entertainment One might also just be the distributor, not the company putting it together (in the same way that Amazon frequently lists Criterion titles as being released by Image).
