Everyone should make a New Years Resolution to not buy releases on release day, Amazon dropped the price on Hard Boiled and Vampire Circus the morning after they shipped mine.

That is only valid if they do that for all items. If they raise the prices for only 5% of DVDs it is still smarter to gamble on the pre-order price. Heck, even if they did that to 49% of DVDs it'd be smarter to pre-order.

I don't even think Amazon is doing this to be sneaky. I'd guess both those DVDs sold poorer then projected (they'd only know that after the fact the pre-orders go out and the early burst of sales are competed and calculated).

Seriously...the prices are always going to get lower. You're just paying a little extra to have it now, instead of waiting a week, a month, a year, or longer. Only buy something if the current price is less than what you would consider its intrinsic value to be and then be happy with it.

Role Models and Baby Mama are $8.99 each, and will get the movie cash. Not a bad deal... Is Baby Mama as terrible as the trailers made it look?

I learned this early-on in the year. IF it's a title I really want, I'll buy it on release day. It can always wait though, ALWAYS.

I was hesitant as you are, but Baby Mama was actually quite funny. It has quirky humor, if you like that sort of thing. Steve Martin's fantastic and has several laugh-out-loud scenes.

I didn't think Baby Mama was a classic or anything, but there were a few good laughs and, as Roadto mentioned, Steve Martin was hilarious. It's worth $9 IMO, especially if you want the movie cash.

RE: Tron 2 movie cash: Is there a list of participating theaters? I went to the site where you can redeem the code and I can't find any specifics. I'd love to pick up the National Treasure movies from this offer, but not if I'm stuck with unusable movie vouchers.

The nearest participating theater is over 20 miles from me, so I guess I'll pass. I can't believe these passes aren't accepted at my local Cinemark.

Thanks for keeping this thread up, Lizard. I've had a busy few weeks and this has been the one thread that I've been checking with my limited time.

That's only 10¢ less than the $17.09 they keep trying to get me to buy it for in my Gold Box. I can wait for lower since it seems like I just saw it in the theater not long ago for free (thanks to Regal Cinema reward points!)

I was really dissapointed that Cinemark apparently doesn't take them. I was thinking about getting the Meet the Parents/Fockers blu-rays, which gets $8 off plus the movie cash but I guess I'll pass too. Like you, the closest theater that takes them is over 20 miles away.

I think its best to just get a movie when it hits a price point you are comfortable paying instead of worrying over whether it will drop again soon or take another 6 months. Seems a lot of people are fretting over a dollar or 2 (believe me, I love getting the best deal possible) but its better to grab something at a price you're comfortable with than let it go back up in hopes of it going lower. Plus, its Amazon, there is a good chance they'll refund you the difference if it goes lower within a week of you ordering anyways.

Anyways, they've taken me totally broke and I hate (love) them for it.

I bought this last month and it arrived with a broken case. The replacement copy has been on backorder for two and a half weeks. Amazon just contacted me to say there was a supply issue and they don't when they will be receiving additional copies. It's OOP status makes me wonder if they ever will.

Why don't you just buy a replacement case for it? Probably won't cost you more than $1-3 dollars.

^ Amazon is painless with returns, so I'm not going to pay for a replacement case if I can avoid it. However, that's certainly what I'll be doing if they're unable to ship another copy.
