I was in the process of placing another order using RINGITIN late last week, when I got pulled away from my computer and forgot about the order. I checked my email late that night, and had a 'reminder' from goHastings, that I still had items in my cart. That email included a promo code for $5.

It may have been 5%. I didn't really read the email in depth. I just assumed it was in addition to the 50% because the email included an itemized list of my cart, and PRICES (which were at the 50% discount). I just assumed it would be an additional 5% off that.

The Star Trek collection is sealed yes, but ain't new. Its 'Quality Used' - there should be a green sticker somewhere. That being said, its in impeccable condition, the set I received as well. what a price !! (until it goes lower sometime in the future) - watched the first movie, paramount did a fantastic BD job on this

I've received actual new stock from Gohastings when I bought used. You can tell by the factory stickers on the wrapping, or by the "Made in Mexico" or China, et al, printed on the back of the wrapper. But you are right that they sometimes seal sets themselves.

Three Charlie Chan box sets I bought from Hastings a year ago were resealed to hide the fact that they each reeked of nauseatingly stale cigar smoke. I had to air them outside for days and sprinkle baking soda in the boxes to get rid of it. So beware resealed items from Hastings.

Last year I received a "sealed" DVD box set from GoHastings that had a used bloody tampon inside it.

I've discovered that any used item which remains in stock for a very long period likely has cosmetic damage at a minimum. They sent me the DVD in place of a Blu-ray on this last sale. I get the feeling that the people fulfilling orders are instructed to use anything they can get away with if an item is out of stock.

I did receive a mint condition copy of a rare Blu-ray, though one damaged CD also arrived.

THat could be true - I have received several new movies when ordering Used. The recent copy of 'Big Jake' i ordered used was brand new !!

I would estimate as much as 10-15% of what I have received was sealed/appeared new (all ordered as used). Maybe 5% was not what I ordered (PV, rental copy, bad condition, etc).

I should point out I don't consider case problems (scratched, cracked, broken tabs, etc) in those numbers because I can easily buy replacement cases for $1. I'm only talking about receiving something that essentially means I feel like I need to buy it again.

Fasincating.. GH is where I now get 90% of my box sets from. Never had a problem and get these as pretty insane prices...(imho).

Well, I have to admit the only reason I avoid is because of my own fear of finding something extra in that box I didn't order.

I did buy an anime set a while back where the box was used but in good condition. No complaints from me on that one.

If you haven't noticed yet, it used to be that any size used book order would ship for $0.96. Since this was a mix and match sale, I got a couple of books and a used BD - shipping showed $5.94 instead of $1.92. Looked at shipping and they have increased shipping rates for books. Its now $3 per order + $0.99 per book in the order. Closed the page
