Re: Wal marts Official black friday ad
Big YMMV there. Went back earlier this morning to return my extra copy of Predator. It scanned at $9.99, but the lady double checked the receipt and refunded me the correct $5. So I already knew the BF prices had been reverted, but I went to check if the display was still up anyway. Most of the titles I bought yesterday were gone, but they had a ton of The Departed for some reason. I also saw all the Universal titles that were nowhere to be found on Friday.
There was a single copy of The Wrestler in the display. The electronics guy (who was breathing down my neck) told me that they were in the process of re-pricing everything and that I was just out of luck if I wanted it for $5 ["That was YESTERDAY, sir."]. This was one condescending old man. He scanned it with his pricing gun and it still showed the BF price. He told me it must be a mistake, so I rushed to a register. I also had Get Him to the Greek, which was still ringing up $10. The clerk scanned both movies and they showed the BF prices on the display. Then she hit the total button (register made a loud beep) and a $45.xx price popped up. I told her they had just scanned at the ad price. She checked the totals, called a supervisor and was told not to adjust the price. She asked me if I still wanted them (yeah, right!), but I just turned around and took them back. It's amazing how huffy these clerks become when you cause them the slightest inconvenience. I didn't try to argue, but she still acted so put out when I wouldn't complete the sale.

I've seen a couple DVDs during the last year, particularly Oceans 13, at a number of different stores with that green "PROMO" sticker on them, in regular stock at regular price.
Thursday night went surprisingly well- got there around 11:30 and the displays were wrapped up but you could see what was in them, then I grabbed everything I wanted without too much pushing and shoving. I have to say it was a lot harder to look through them all since the studios are phasing out the white tape on top with the titles printed on it- when every disc had those I could check everything in a few seconds, but without them I had to flip through each one. There were a couple I didn't buy too because they were in un-sealed cardboard slipcovers and had the "PROMO" tags stuck right on the front. As I've said a billion times, that practice has caused me to buy significantly fewer discs.
Opened them all last night and I was amazed at how many came with 'digital copy' discs, and about half of them were expired! Since I'm an obsessive collector I'm going to keep them in the cases, but sure seems like a waste. I can't imagine ever wanting to pull out my laptop computer in public and watch Slumdog Millionaire, and if I did I'd just bring along a DVD and not have it waste space on the hard drive!

I find it bizarre that the DVDs and Blu-Rays went back to full price... when all the clothing that was on sale is still on sale.
Guess Wal-Mart doesn't want to get rid of all those DVDs or something. They're just going to ship the damn things back to their warehouse at some point. >_>

In my quick scanning I did not see anyone mention Something Something Dark Side (Family Guy) for $5. I grabbed it here in Florida along with Night at the Museum and a couple other random ones.

Re: Wal marts Official black friday ad
Walmart was the last place my wife and I stopped at yesterday just because went by and seen that the crowd had thinned out sowe thought we would see if anything was left.I was surprised by all the stuff left.Plenty of the doorbuster TV's,printers, external hard drives, band hero sets for every console, and a ton of the $69 Blu-Ray players. Went in today and they still had printers,Blu-Ray players and hard drives, but I seen a DVD/Bluray display that wasn't there Friday afternoon. I picked up 7 $5 Blu's went and scanned them and they scanned at all different prices even though the display had the Black Friday pricing on it. I took them up to checkout and told the associate that the price said $5 on the display soshe went and checked it out and came back and said they would be that price until they were gone.

The price must depend on which Walton is in control of that store. I guess some are greedier than others and all of them are billionaires and haven't done shit in their lives.

In the three Walmarts I hit Saturday, pissing time away with a basketfull of BRs at the price checker, I found that the titles with a UPC sticker that read "8-83929-163**-0" rang up at the BF price - whether or not they had the "promo" label.

Was in a WM on sat and saw a blue Promo sticker The Simpsons Movie BR floating around, scanned it but rang up $20.

Went by my local WM today (for food this time, I swear) and they were re-marking all the left over BF titles to higher prices. Bunches of $1.96 DVDs in the $5 dump bin.
I saw a mislain copy of Heat BR and decided to give it a try and what do you know it rang up $5. I didn't even see this one in the BF confusion.

Some of the Promo Discs are still the same price.. like "the Box" is still $5.. others have changed price.. find the ones you want.. find a price scanner... and ymmv...

Did that for a few earlier today while on a quick grocery run, just for the hell of it after reading this thread. The Departed, The Notebook, Walk the Line, and Angels & Demons all still rang up at the $5 price point. I also scanned Armored and The Wolf Man, but they were back up to their regular prices.

What's strange is that one of the Blu-rays (Angels & Demons) changed prices when I actually took it to the register, while the DVD set I picked up (Community) didn't. I didn't buy Walk the Line, so I can't attest to that one.
