They usually have 50% off sales around major holidays. I know July 4th, Labor Day, Memorial Day had 50% off PV and 40% the poster art. I'm sure they will do one in the next few weeks leading up to Thanksgiving through Black Friday.

I haven't seen anything lately. If only the forum had somebody who has some sort of a Blockbuster connection, or who goes there a lot, like a Blockbuster Dude of some kind. Then that person could keep the rest of us in the loop.

I used to be a "Blockbuster Dude", of sorts. Was in there 3-5 times a week, knew the managers and employees, etc. Until they closed down all the stores here. I spent a lot of money at that store.

Re: Promotons on Previously Viewed BR at Blockbuster??

Not that I went to Blockbuster very often, but I did like to be able to stop by occasionally when I heard they had used video game deals. My 3 nearest Blockbusters closed, so instead of being 1 mile off my normal path, it's about 4 miles, so I almost never go there. It's not too big of a deal because most of their used DVDs ended up $3-$5 each, and usually when I bought some I saw them brand new at Big Lots for $3 each not too long after. To me Blockbuster is what they call a zombie store (like a zombie bank). It still exists but it serves no useful purpose for me. I think their rentals are still $2.99 or $3.99 or worse. If I wanted to pay that much, then I'd just sign up for Netflix. I think they might have a $1 family section where I could never find anything I wanted... either the same stuff from 5-10 years ago or stuff I've never heard of. It's just a matter of time until they're all gone, and the 3 stores that closed near me didn't have any decent closing sales. At least HW Video went out with a bang and I got some good stuff from them, but I got diddly from Blockbuster closings.

Re: Promotons on Previously Viewed BR at Blockbuster??

I used to work at Blockbuster, but that was 9 years ago. I no longer have the inside scoop. Most of the Blockbusters here in NYC have closed. I think there are only about 5 left. I'm going to check one during lunch today. Wish me luck!!

I was in Connecticut over the weekend and picked up Eagle Eye and Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist each for $6.99. No sales but "some" decent used blu-ray prices. There were at least 10 copies of each so I was able to bring several to the cashier to check for the the blu-rays in the best condition. Thankfully the ones that I bought were flawless. Now I just need to buy some empty blu-ray cases to put them in.

I went to my local Blockbuster today during lunch and there were more previously viewed blu-rays than I could take notes on... None were on sale but the woman said to expect a sale around Thanksgiving..

I took a few pictures with my iPhone:

I'm on a high promoton low carbohydrate diet myself.

I used to frequently grab used DVD's and grabbed several used HD DVD's when they cleaned out but haven't bothered with the BD's yet. I know it's simple but having to go get extra cases seems like work.

I figured Promoton was a typo for the movie Premonition with Sandra Bullock, or maybe a misspelling referring to some "Promotion", but since Groucho said it was a Transformer it must be the name of a Transformer (a pretty brilliant logical deduction). I dunno since I only saw the 1st Transformers movie once and the 2nd one 0 times.
In for zero.

Re: Promotons on Previously Viewed BR at Blockbuster??

Just got back from BB. No real promotions happening. A few PV but nothing too great that I saw. Instead I saw some that are available new everywhere for $10 they had for $12.99. The only one interesting was the Proposal with Sandra Bullock. My wife likes the movie and said to keep my eyes open for a used copy. But even $12.99 was too much for that one. Eventually I'll find one

Here is my prediction... I think the following sale will be announced in 2-3 weeks:

2 for $25 on $15.99 titles
2 for $20 on $12.99 titles
2 for $15 on $9.99 titles
2 for $10 on $6.99 titles

I've been waiting for a sale too. Pretty much everything BR at the Blockbuster near me is $12.99-$16.99. If they offered deals on them like they do their used DVD's, I'd pick up quite a few.

Anyone else receive something like this? Did not see any e-mail and both stores that I frequent do not have this deal as of yesterday. At 1 of my stores could nab Tropic Thunder for $3.50 and Cloudy ... Meatballs for only $5 which would be worth it despite needing to get a blu case for it.

This is part of the reason I am not the biggest fan of Blockbuster, for a "national" chain it would be nice to have some uniformity across the board.

Re: Promotons on Previously Viewed BR at Blockbuster??

Finally stopped by mine tonight. Haven't been by in a couple months. They had a TON of $6.99 titles. I would say in the 30 - 40 range. Some were older titles (like the first ones they pulled for previously viewed) to some newer titles. Some ones I remember were Benjaim Button, The Ugly Truth, Quantum of Solace, Crank 2, The Collector, PS I Love You, Vantage Point, etc. The only one I picked up tonight was Zodiac, but it was $9.99

Re: Promotons on Previously Viewed BR at Blockbuster??

A few days before Black Friday I asked an employee about the sale others have mentioned above and he told me it started Monday (as in 3 days ago). Said he'd seen the signs in the back.

When I went in on Monday, there was no sale and no one knew anything about it. Either the guy was a complete idiot or he flat out lied to me. Or both.

The BD section at the store near me is practically overflowing. If they'd put reasonable prices on that stuff they would fly out the door.

I agree.. usually are way overpriced and you don't get the digital copy/dvd or real blu case.
