I think what he's saying is that the studio is spending money advertising the set on cnnmoney.com instead of giving the buyer a discount.

Re: Best Price on Back to the Future?

Chances are that your DVD set is defective, too. The BTTF II & III discs that were bad, and there was a period where buyers could send in the defective DVD for a corrected version.

I still haven't opened it up, and it has been as cheap as $10.49 on Amazon. If I pay $45 for the BD trilogy, I expect the same story to repeat.

There really aren't that many deals. Looks like $47.99 is the cheapest. Or around there anyway.

looks like $42.95 if you've got an ultimate electronics store near you:

I'm waiting for holiday sales. I'll kick myself if I bite now, and it's much cheaper in just a few weeks.

You have to figure that this and something like the Sound of Music will be cheaper come holiday time. I won't go to a store at midnight or 3 AM. I am really hoping Amazon comes through with some great bargains like last year.

I don't really know about that to be honest. These sets usually take a while to go on sale really cheap. It might be a little less but I doubt anything too largely discounted especially only being out a month or so when the holiday shopping season starts.

Yep, there's one 5 1/2 hours away from my house. The only one in Illinois

By the way, stopped by Wal-Mart and saw the shelf tag for this and it was $60! So I'll be avoiding that! No spot for Alien either.

If you don't want digital copies, you can get the regular UK set from Amazon UK for around $43. The collector's set is about $20 more.

See I'm thinking exactly the opposite. After these sets are out for about 2-3 weeks and everyone who is a die hard fan has made their purchases, the set goes "stagnant". B&M stores will all have ordered more than they really genuinely could have expected to sell. They will therefore put stuff like this on sale on Black Friday as a loss-leader to get people into the store. That has been the pattern in the past. Here's hoping. Otherwise, I'm waiting until Universal does an MSRP drop on this set. I'm sticking at 30 bucks and some change.

Re: Best Price on Back to the Future?

Back to the Future Trilogy Blu-Ray is $41.98 + $2.99 shipping = $44.97 shipped from Newegg right now:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...68025192049491

Not as cheap as UE, but not everyone has a UE around (I do but they still don't carry movies). Of course as the perpetual cheapskate, I'm going to wait for the price to drop closer to $30 before pulling the trigger.

I'll buy now and then re-purchase and return right after Black Friday.

Re: Best Price on Back to the Future?

$10 per movie is my price point so not buying until it hits $30 or less. Guys, blu-rays prices are dropping like a rock. It is foolish to pay full price now.

Re: Best Price on Back to the Future?

I don't see it as foolish for paying full price if this is a set you've really wanted for a long time. Either way, as much as I love this series, the Alien set won out, so I'm sinking my dough for that - and several others. I can wait for a sale for this one. Hopefully it'll come soon.

Re: Best Price on Back to the Future?

Plus, no one's talking about "full price." $42 is a great deal.

If it lowers in a month and I bet it will just go and get a price adjustment. Enjoy it now and collect your money later.

You know how many times people say this then it takes a year to see a huge drop in price, if ever.

On the off chance it drops down quite a bit lower for black friday, then I will simply buy it again and return on the original reciept since black friday falls on the 26th exactly one month from now.

Besides 14.44 a movie for each Back to the future movie is not bad in my opinon

Re: Best Price on Back to the Future?

IN YOUR OPINION. Christ. This is the BARGAINS forum. Don't come in knocking people for saying "I am waiting for X price."

This is a trend I am seeing more and more.

IN MY EDUCATED BY THE WAY DVD HAS DEVALUED OPINION, more than $10 per film is too much. Your Amount may be $20. Quit knocking people for how they value something, as they don't go "You paid too much!!"

Re: Best Price on Back to the Future?

Maye the title should have been "Lowest Price on Back to the Future".. then maybe there wouldn't be so much complaining.. It must be because "best" is relative to the max we all set on what we spend per movie.. just saying..
