Did Amazon give up on matching Best Buy?
Waited all week for a match on Julie & Julia BD. Finally gave up and went with Best Buy.
If they have given up on price matching, next time I won't wait.

Its not like they're obligated to match just because they have before . If you want something and its on sale somewhere why not just order/buy it from that place?

Yeah, I've given up on Amazon matching Best Buy. I've been waiting for them to match Forbidden Kingdom at $7.99 so i could use my $5 off expendables coupon. They did however drop it to $9.49 last night which I guess is close enough.

With one day left of a week long sale Amazon finally drops the price .... to $16.49? Is that a price match for $14.99? Really? Even less reason for Prime.
Clearly, Amazon price matching is over.

Does not matter to me. No gas money to travel to the store. No 8.5% sales tax - that is at least 2-3 dollars each time. And the time - you can't buy time - wandering around the store, waiting on the cash register...
Best Buy online- shipping + sales tax = fail

I would have to agree. I've flip flopped buying patterns plenty of times. For a few months (current kick) I've been mostly buying from Best Buy. 6 months ago, it was all about Amazon. Here and there, I'll be all about DVD Empire's used section. At one point, I did try to stay loyal to Amazon in particular, but I usually just gravitate to the best price (or the best conceived price I guess in some cases).

Amazon has given Prime shipping to so many people now (students, Moms, etc.) that it hurts their profit margins if they price-match all of Best Buy's loss-leaders. I have noticed a gradual rise in media pricing over the past year, to the point where Walmart and even Best Buy is underpricing them on a majority of items. Look at the number of CDs that have almost no discount off list price. It looks even worse when you plug in a movie or album on a price-comparison engine. You can almost always tell how much profit Amazon is making on something from what its distributors are selling the item for on Amazon marketplace. The blind obedience and customer loyalty that Amazon has generated is keeping prices very high.

They dont need to match things over and over again just cause best buy does. what matters is that quite a few of recent releases they give us great prices on relatively closer to release date.
having said that they did actually price match (and even go lower) on some of the bestbuy 9.99 titles from last month. Robin Hood they had at bestbuy for 9.99 within a week amazon had it for 7.99
I have a feeling as we start getting closer to the holidays youll start noticeing it like last year again.
