For once some two-packs that catch my eye!
Very tempting...

Re: $15 2-packs at Walmart

Very tempted by "The Girl Next Door" and "Miss March," because I love TGND. I've heard terrible things about MM though, even though it looked decent from the previews. Hmmm.

Also tempted by "Jumper" and "Babylon A.D.," but I don't know. I should probably just steer clear.

Re: $15 2-packs at Walmart

I'll pass on all of these. It's weird that Patton and Butch Cassidy aren't together because (for some reason) they often seem to go on sale at the same time. If stores would offer buy any 2 BDs for $15 from this display, then I'd probably get a couple, but they always seem to pair them up in ways that I never want both titles. If Best Buy is capable of enforcing pairings (to prevent people from returning just 1 and getting the other for half price), then Walmart or Target could do it too, but somebody chooses to keep pairing titles up and I keep on passing on them.

Of course, for most it looks like I own exactly one of the titles.

I've mentioned this in other threads, but I'm in the minority that actually found Miss March to be funny. Sure, it's not comedy genius like The Hangover or an Appatow film, but it definitely had some funny moments. Plus if you like Craig Robinson, then you will enjoy the movie, even if its just for him.

TGNT, as great as that movie is, it looks terrible on bluray. Nothing screams HD about that transfer (not even the scenes w/ Cuthbert which I anticipated the most). If you already have it on dvd, dont waste the money upgrading. Or if you dont have it on dvd....just buy the dvd.

Miss March is probably the worst movie I have seen in the past 3 or 4 years. I love Kevin Smith and "less mature" humor. This movie was AW-FUL!!

So much for the truism that the director should have the final say on transfers. Unreal.

Re: $15 2-packs at Walmart

"Wow" is all I can say after reading that review. I've only seen The French Connection on CED Videodisc, produced in 1981 with practically no color at all to it, guess I'll just keep watching that version. For a long time William Friedkin didn't like letterboxing either- the laserdisc of "Jade" was only released in 4x3 for that reason.

BTW the remake of "Day the Earth Stood Still" also comes with the original movie, so it's like a 3-pack.

Re: $15 2-packs at Walmart

I found a handful of these at my local Walmart mixed in with all of the budget DVD combo packs on a big red shipper in front of Electronics with signs marked "Starting at $7" and "Starting at $15." They didn't get their own side or anything and were jumbled in. Just an FYI for folks who are having a hard time finding them.

Thanks Snowmaker!

Headed out to an area with a Walmart later tonight. Might have to stop by and pickup X-Men/X2.

Re: $15 2-packs at Walmart

I have to pick up a few things, so I'm going to swing by and see if they have them up here in Canada, I doubt it, but it's worth a shot.

Re: $15 2-packs at Walmart

Can anyone who has picked up the Kingdom of Heaven/Master and Commander 2-pack comment on the quality of KoH?

It has pretty good scores from the reviews I read, but the disc came out 4 years ago and what looked good then might not look so good now due to advances in mastering and compression.

Re: $15 2-packs at Walmart

I was just going to post about these, myself.

Picked up X-Men 1 & 2, which at $15 is a total bargain, considering they have just X-Men 2 by itself for $15, and the Trilogy pack for $39.96. This way I get the two decent movies for $24.96 cheaper than buying all three together.

The Boondock Saints / Street Kings
X-Men / X2: X-Men United

I want those packs. Wish I didn't have M&C already because I need KoH.

Picked up the X-Men/X2 pack today. Good deal.

Might pick up Master and Commander/Kingdom of Heaven and Day the Earth Stood Still/X-Files I Want to Believe later this weekend.

I would suggest steering in the complete opposite direction.

Picked up X1 & 2 today, they didn't have most of the others listed at my store.

Re: $15 2-packs at Walmart

Stopped by a Walmart that I had never been to. At the entrance by the row of cash registers they had a 4 sided display. One side had 2-packs of BD's shrink wrapped back to back. The sign said $20. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid was paired with The Good, Bad & Ugly. Grabbed one and scanned it and sure enough it was $20 for the pair.

I decided to walk all the way to the other end of the store to the Electronics/Movies section to look for the 2/$15 BD packs. Glad I did. I found the cardboard display just like the OP's photos showed. These BDs were shrink wrapped side-by-side and were 2/$15. Picked up Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid paired with Walk the Line.

I found it very strange that the BDs shrink wrapped back-to-back were 2/$20 and the BDs shrink wrapped side-by-side were 2/$15......very odd, but in any case, thanks OP!!!

If you were a movie studio, you would consider it a 4-pack (it has a disc for the digital copy in it)!
