I don't think it's so much Disney Blu-rays in general as much as this is not a very high profile title. I'm sure the new Tinkerbell and BatB which are coming out later this year will have better deals.

Could probably do BestBuy price match their website since they let me do it before but that would still work out to the same price as TRU would have been.

I think I will hold off and decide later if I want it for that price, the coupon is good for 2 weeks so maybe by that time my TRU might get some or maybe even possibly an actual sale price somewhere :fc:

Hopefully BatB won't have this kind of pricing.

Yea, I just picked mine up at TRU for $10 after B&TB pre-order, and DMR coupon. Out the door for around $15. I was really hoping it would be $24.99 in-store like TRU has done in the past with new release Disney/Pixar Blu-rays.

With the pre-order of B&TB, you could technically go back after later on and cancel your pre-order right?

You could but then you would go straight to hell. :)

Target online is $24.99 and the store reps don't usually ask questions, so I took a printout and they matched their online price minus the $10 coupon. $14.99.

I posted the other day i wouldnt be surprised if this is a indicator that many retailers will now forgo putting these disney blurays on sale, since they pretty much now all know that disney is doing these 10.00 coupons for all their releases.

though i cant help but think that we will atleast see sale prices for the Bigger name catalog and theatrical release titles(i hope) like i really dont expect them to not be running a sale on Beauty or Toystory3 .
perhaps its because james is not really a big big disney catalog title that the retailers didnt have any good sales for it.

The $10 shouldn't affect the prices that stores put on their products. The $10 is cash to them. In fact, it should entice them even more to win people's business with the lowest price as they know the coupons will attract more purchases and they would want to make sure they get them. For that matter, it's not like the stores haven't known about these coupons. They actually promote them in their ads. A lot of times, they even promote the movie at at the after coupon price (of course, with the small print that the price is after the $10 coupon). As long as Disney keeps up with the coupons (as they seem to be), I expect to see good deals on Beauty and the Beast and Toy Story 3 later this year.

Had Best Buy pricematch their website at $24.99 - $10 MC = $14.99 before tax.

I'm happy.

My copy was rung up and taxed then the ten dollars were taken off manually after the total was calculated. I know that this isn't how it is supposed to happen but I didn't feel like arguing as my daughter and I were tired and ready to get out of there.

That is how it's supposed to happen in many (perhaps all) states.

I know how manufactures coupons work, And yes it shouldnt affect them, but then again since they are trying to make money and they know they will get that 10.00 back (if they follow directons for reimbursment) then they might figure hey even with out us putting it on sale the AVERAGE person is still going to come in and buy it cause they see that save 10.00 so thats 10.00 free for us.

It all comes down to if corperate gets greedy.

Now i am pretty confident titles like Beauty, toy story, and christmas carol will have nice 19.99 type sales to drive in store traffic but less popular catalog titles such as james might not see any real big advertised sales, durring the time the coupons are valid.

This.

My printer was just about out of ink, so the coupon printed really lightly (and with a few streaks of non-printed area), but it was legible for the most part and the barcode scanned...of course it wasn't in BB's system (as they never are) when the guy tried to ring it up, but he made it work in the end....

On prior purchases it has always been rung up, the ten dollars discounted and the remaining amount taxed.

Manufacturer coupons always come off after tax in my experience. They are treated as cash.

That is the case at both Target and Best Buy. I'm looking at receipts right now. The Manufacturer coupons act like cash as part of the payment process.

This is how it is treated where I live also. Luckily the cashier did not know how to get the coupon to work so he rang it up at a discounted price(16.99) as an open box item. Ended up saving me nearly $1 in tax. Not much, but I'll take it when & where I can get it. :)

In Connecticut, they take the $10 off and then tax the discounted price. Obviously a YMMV depending on your state.

Does that work the same for cell phones? Here in CA, you can get a free phone and then have to pay the tax on the original price.

I'm pretty sure that's how it's supposed to happen anywhere. If it was at Best Buy and you normally had trouble with coupons before, they may have just done a $10 discount on the item, which means you wouldn't have had to pay the tax on that $10, instead of ringing it up as a coupon. I, for one, have never had any problems with coupons at Best Buy (even printed ones), so I don't know.

That sucks. I remember people complaining about that when Best Buy had a coupon to get iPhones for $50/$100 or even less. A lot of people were being charged the tax on $600 instead of the $100. Pretty lame. Most states don't have that, though, as far as I know. Even if you counted the coupon as cash (which it wasn't, as it was a store coupon, though many store coupons still ring up after tax in most places), you should still only have to pay tax on the discounted price (which was about $200, I believe). Plus the fact that they were refurbished phones (meaning that the value shouldn't be the same as a brand new phone) was an even stupider reason to pay tax on $600.

Most places here add tax before the coupon is applied. An exception is store coupons. Meaning, if you use a Target coupon at Target, it reduces the price of the item, instead of deducting the coupon later. TRU coupons do this as well. The same with Reward Zone certificates at BB, since it actually reduces the prices on the items. But manufacturer coupon practically always come off after taxes are applied (at least in my state)

BestBuy matched their online price ($24.99) for me but then told me I could not use the $10 off coupon as the item was on sale. I told them I had used $10 off coupons in the store at other times and had no problems and that the coupon had an expiration date of 8/17 so it was for use right now as the item was just released. In the end I used my 2 coupons and the cashier only charged me tax on one of the 2 sets I bought saving me about another $1.50.

Now go back the store, walk up to the customer service desk with your receipt, and tell them that you saw it was cheaper online, and you want to do a price match. They probably won't even notice that there was a coupon on your receipt. I've done this several times when they wouldn't let me do both in one transaction.
