Recognition to Peep for this...
Peep mentioned in the thread about The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo for FYE that FamilyVideo.com has it for $16.99 with free shipping using "JULYSHIP," but I also mentioned a couple of other nice deals. They've got War of the Worlds (remake) for $14.99 (lowest I've seen it so far) and The Legend of Zorro for $9.99. Anyone else see anything good? Peep says the free shipping code expires today though.

Okay, this is a little off-topic for this forum, but I'm really pissed off. I got the War of the Worlds order today and it was shrink-wrapped, but not with the typical factory-sealed shrink-wrap and it did not have the adhesive security things around the top, side, or bottom of the case. I open it and inspect the disc, and it is clearly not brand new; the disc has some marks and a couple of smudges. Is this typical of Family Video to hock used Blu-rays as brand new by re-shrink wrapping them themselves? I am not pleased right now. I just wanted to know if anyone else has had this experience before I shoot them off a kind e-mail about this.

Shoot them an email or even call them. I have only had one problem with them in the past and they were very helpful and courteous on the phone.

I think in order to cut costs some of the studios are scaling down their packaging. If you look in the stores that's the way this disc is sold: no security tape, generic looking shrinkwrap. Paramount and Universal seem to be doing this at the moment.Originally Posted by RoadToPerdition

I thought that might be the case, but the disc itself shouldn't look like it's been handled and have scuff marks and fingerprint smudges...Originally Posted by Surfinhank

I shot them off an e-mail last night with no response yet. We'll see what happens. I would hope they wouldn't repackage a used disc and sell it as brand new, but who knows with businesses nowadays.
