I wonder if they made a mistake in thinking they were price matching best buy. best buy has the other trek movies on sale for 9.99.

My trial of Prime ended yesterday. Damn. I'm struggling to find $15.01 on which to spend without breaking my price barrier rules for other blu-rays.

Just get 3 Blu-rays for $30 or so. There are a few still at $9.99 or less. Some are 10.99-$11.99.

I'd get on this deal. My shipping estimate is for May 25th. Ahem. Hopefully it'll be sooner.

Now I have to continue finding deals like this so I can make that $79 expense worthwhile.

It was still in my cart for the $9.99 price even though when I click on the title and it showed the $23.99 price. So I ordered it with 2 copies of Karate Kid to get free shipping.

Damn, I was mulling over placing an order earlier, and I just finally made my mind up and went to order it only to find the price raised

Doh, had it in my cart and I searched for 20 minutes to find another DVD or two for free shipping but I could not find any.

I really hated all the original Star Trek movies & TV shows but I decided to give this a chance for this price.

I guess I can say that I got a little value out of it because I actually watched Star Trek soon after buying it because of all the rave reviews only to be disappointed as a ST:TOS fan. The movie was basically (as I took it) JJ Abrams saying FU to original series fans saying the original series never really happened (with the exception of 1 very old item remaining from that timeline). Why did the original crew even bother with The Guardian in The City on the Edge of Forever if it was all going to be for naught? Too bad somebody doesn't come out with an Aliens 3 movie that does the same thing... somebody can go back in time with the nearest handy time machine and erase the travesties known as Alien^3, Resurrection, and that Requiem movie, and then do the series properly. :-)

Sounds like someone's offended by a good film reinvigorating a franchise that was pretty much a joke in some parts or dying a very boring and long death. Aside from some small bits of humor, I loved the hell out of Star Trek.

Hate to say it, but you missed the boat. The movie all but shoved down the viewers throat that they split off into a parallel universe, thus preserving the original while making room for a reboot with unpredictable characters and future.

I still enjoyed it, but I didn't like them erasing the old series. If one accepts the new Star Trek movie, then there's no way to reach that parallel universe any more and it's just as real as Back to the Future's alternate universe with Biff's pleasure palace, neither of which is "reachable". If they don't make more Star Trek movies with this new crew, then what will be the point? When I watched this new Star Trek, I was misinformed by others that it was a story about the Academy days that fit into the existing original series rather than an erasure of it. Sure, it was entertaining and the special effects were good, but you can cheat and do just about anything with time machines and "magic" matter.
