Tempting... Great price, but I'd rather have the extended cuts... I have a B&N MC so I can get another 5% off, too...

I've about bought the LOR set several times, but I think I really want the extended edition. Is there actually a time line for that? Summer?

It'll come out when the Hobbit comes out on blu. The first half of the Hobbit is due in theaters in December 2012 and the second in December 2013. So, depending on if they release it with the first or the second half, the extended cuts will be out spring/ summer 2012 or 2013.

I hope you are wrong... But it would make sense... Well, I don't NEED to have this on Blu right now. I can still wait. Begrudgingly...

By that time they will probably be remaking the LOTR movies. Why the fuck would they wait that long? I understand their thinking but that is 2+ years away.

So, a minimum of two years at the earliest or possibly three? Once you go beyond three years, the tradeoff for waiting becomes more and more...hmmm

2-3 years? Really?? I was thinking summer because Amazon already has it "up" so you can be notified when available.

Curse you Beebs. I was completely resigned to waiting for the extended versions. But this price, and the completest in me, succumbed.

I'm extremely tempted... but I both the TE and EE on DVD and they look fine (not perfect) on my 46" screen.

Thanks for the heads-up. Wasn't going to buy this until it hit $15 per movie, and this met that criterion.

Even at $20 total, I am not sure I want this set. I would much rather have the extended editions or the ability to have the option of both on the set I buy.

I want to agree.

But yesterday started the DVDTalk Make-Your-Own-Challenge Challenge, and I decided that mine was going to be to watch every second of content from all the LOTR DVD releases.

I was trying hard to resist this release, as it only has a couple minutes of unique content, but the sale popping up right as the Challenge started was a coincidence I couldn't resist.

Not a bad price.

This is about where my pain threshold will be once the ee's come out on Blu-ray.

Re: Lord of the Rings - $43.19 + tax (requires new B&N account)

I was slow in completeing my order and the C7P7D8U coupon code would no longer work for me on Monday night but was working on Saturday. I ended up going through www.bn.com/gsa and using the GSA1020 coupon code (20% off) and also got an additional 11% off (which I learned about in the Barnes and Noble coupon thread) for a final $42.71 before tax.
My thanks to Beebs and Lasermovies.
