I received mine already. 3 days for a cross-border delivery is exceptional.

I had forgotten that it included a hardcover book. What a nicely put together package!

You forgot they must take a older dvd and say "Oh DVD Gods, Give me Blu-Ray Deals" and there you go.

Silly me, I missed the DOD at the end, eyes were just focused in on the Deal.

Thanks for pointing that out to me.

Not much of a deal since the retail is $29.99, also it's showing as $21.99. Seems like the typical discount for Amazon.

Ya, I was going to order it to just have it. Then thought I would just wait a little bit more.

Fuck. I heard about how the discs are set in the package. How the fuck do I take them out without scratching the actual set? Fuck....Little rubber things holding this in. Oh well...at least it was a good price...lol.

I'm thinking of doing the standard 6-disc case thing too. I just don't understand these studios. How do they think people are going to put these on a shelf? Even if they were dead set on the box, they still should put the movies in a standard case INSIDE the box. I mean, it's only 5 discs right? I can almost understand sets like the M*A*S*H series set, thats a lot of dvds! But even that set is a pain in the butt to display.

This is currently down to $51.99 on Amazon, in case anyone's still interested...

Mine came today and really it's a little banged up. I mean it's nothing serious but I'm kind of picky about my dvd sets. I can't decide if I should shoot amazon a e-mail or not.

I did, the samething happen to me. At 1st I was not going to email them, then I did and the answer was piss poor. The discs are fine, the book is banged up. I asked them for a replacement (over the piss poor email)

The only reason I was reluctant to e-mail them was because I just had to e-mail them when they shipped me my hardcover editions of The Walking Dead comic's and they came all banged up. But after further inspection my set has deep scratches to go along with the banged up packaging I initially saw. I love amazon but they are not high on my list right now, they package things like idiots some times.

Mine showed up yesterday in good (not perfect) shape. Geeze! those rubber hubs are wretched! Anyone have any luck putting replacement hubs in the packaging? adhesive maybe?

I saw that post, but I was thinking proper stick-on hubs might work in place of the rubber cement "nipples." Problem is either finding a local source or buying a minimum online.

: ponder :

After giving it some major thought I called them. I let them know the discs where/are fine but the book was not. I sent pictures of the book. She overnight me another one. Seem this is happening alot and they know about it.

Re: Planet Of The Apes collection $42.99 Amazon DoD (4/20/10)

I hadn't opened mine yet (because I am getting ready to move and thought it would be best to just leave it in the box for now) but after reading these posts I decided to check it. The case and book are in great condition. I share the sentiments about the hubs, however. I may just end up swapping the discs out from my regular DVD set just to have cases with covers. Granted, they won't be Blu Ray cases...unless I can find some descent custom art somewhere for Blu Ray cases.
