Amazon DOTD (12/18) - Bourne Trilogy
Amazon's Gold Box deal on Friday (12/18) is The Bourne Trilogy Blu-Ray. It'll go live at 3am EST.
Twitter says "save over 55%". MSRP is $119.98. So I'm guessing we'll see something around $49.99.
I was hoping for closer to $40. Still got the HD-DVDs. Not sure if it's worth the upgrade for $50.

At over $16 per movie, I will definitely pass. A couple weeks ago, the set was apparently available from Amazon UK for $32 INCLUDING SHIPPING. I was hoping for a similar price.

Here are my thoughts on pricing:
$29.99 or less - definately buying.
$30.00 to $39.99 - I'll have to think about it.
$40.00 or more - No thanks, I'll pass...
It will be interesting to see what the price will be.

Amazon shows that all three BD titles will be released individually (BD + DVD) on Jan. 19, 2010.
The MSRP is $29.98 for each one. The Amazon pre-order price is $19.99 each.
Hmmmm....Amazon better have a really super low price on this 3 pack...

Those are going to be the debut of the new Universal DVD/Blu-ray Combo discs. If you don't care about them being flippers then yeah, waiting might be fine for you.

Fifty bucks is not worth it for movies I already paid thirty for. Until they dip to thirty, it's a no go. ( though I'm sure these particular movies look real purty on Blu).

Ended up going to AmazonUK and buying the Bourne Set, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and Almost Famous for $58 shipped.
AmazonUK has some great Blu-Ray sales right now.

so the Amazon UK set will play fine on any blu-ray player? I was also hoping the deal of the day would be 40.00 or less

Lots of GB comments talking about the UK price.
My favorite recent GB comment was the guy who complained that titles like Arrested Development were too "niche" and that GB selections should be of more general interest, like a replacement for his set of china that had a chip in it

Re: Amazon DOTD (12/18) - Bourne Trilogy
I'm double dipping on those. Yep! I already have all 3 on HD-DVD, but I picked them up for $49.99 on Blu from Amazon just now. I thought about it for a week since there was a post on Monday saying it will come out, and I decided that Universal is going to screw us with DUAL SIDED Blu-Rays and those will probably go away soon. I hate FLIPPER discs and Universal had a real problem with those when they had the HD-DVD/DVD Combos and they might stop producing the regular versions so I picked them up. Seeing how I spent only $10 bucks on HD-DVD's (Free Identity with HDDVD Player - $5 bucks each for next 2) it's not the most expensive Double-Dip in history. Plus I love the movies and I'm a big fan so I don't mind spending a little bit more on it. I saved money in last few months since I stopped buying Blu-Rays at full retail. I'm done with that for a while.

Ordered from UK too. Nearly $20 cheaper.
It's the number 1 Blu-Ray seller on their site too.
Edit: Matrix Trilogy is even a little cheaper than this set.

I said screw it and just ordered the US version. I just can't get myself to add a UK version to my collection, I'm OCD like that.

Re: Amazon DOTD (12/18) - Bourne Trilogy
I hesitate to order from the UK because there is always a small possibility that one of the BDs will have damage, and I don't want to have to deal with an overseas return.

When it was still HD DVD vs BD (2007) I picked up all 3 (when Ultamatum was a new release) for $38 from Amazon. How is the set $12 more 2 years later?

Re: Amazon DOTD (12/18) - Bourne Trilogy
I'd give it a shot. Both my UK Bourne Trilogy and my Band of Brothers (in the metal case) arrived with ZERO damage to the BD's or the cases. If that BoB case can make it over here without a dent, chances are good that you won't have problems.

I don't buy imports because I hate the ratings logos. Not buying this at the $50 price on Amazon.com either. I'll just wait until it gets even cheaper.
