The Prisoner Blu-ray $39.99 at DD
The Prisoner Blu-ray is $39.99 at deepdiscount.
I was waiting for this drop! I heard the transfers are beautiful.
I can't post urls yet, so you have to search for yourself. But it's there, trust me. I just ordered it...

Any chance that Amazon will drop their price to match this? I know it's normally DD that matches Amazon. I have an Amazon GC that I'd like to use to get this.

Shoot! I forgot about the code. Oh, well. $39.99 Is still a great price.
Just be aware that it's on backorder now. You'll still get it, but it will take awhile.

I jumped on this when I saw it in an email they sent. Don't forget bing.com for an extra $1.60 back. So a total of 33.39 after coupon and bing. Amazing series for those on the fence.

I'm supposed to be saving money!
I told myself, this was going to be the first DD sale that I didn't participate in.
Damn yous!!! Damn yous to hell!!!
oh yeah, bought!
thanks op (and damn you).
Also, as someone who has never seen the series - I'm assuming I should watch the old series before the new one (currently showing this week). I wasn't planning on watching the new series any time soon, but am saving it to watch later.
Or, for those who have seen the new episodes, is it so different that it wouldn't really matter?

It's of course just 6 episodes, I just finished 3 & 4...it doesn't matter which you watch first. There are obviously similarities, but IMO watch the new ones if you want before the old, shouldn't make a difference.

The only way I'm getting thru the new series is by treating it as a whole separate entity than the new one. It's engaging if it stands alone. AMC's Prisoner has a few "homages" to the old, but the New 6 isn't as complex as McGoohan's was. Nu6 comes off as wimpy and directionless.
McKellan's Number 2 is pretty good, however, and could hold his own over all previous Number 2's (except Leo McKern, of course.)
Finally, the entire theme is different. Whereas the first one was an allegory for individualism vs. collectivism, the new one seems to be a battle between...y'know I haven't figured it out yet.
In other words...the original kicks the new one's a##.

At this price, it really becomes quite tempting to upgrade, even though this edition lacks the excellent book that was included with the UK SD and BD editions.
ETA: Oups, it looks as if the special has ended. The e-mail from DD said this bargain was on for "Today"; when does todays end for these promotions, at 6 PM? I looked at it earlier and was planning to order it tonight. No reason to do so anymore.

Glad I was able to jump in on this one for $34.98 (after the coupon) - price is back up to $59.97. A blind buy for me, and looking forward to seeing it.

When I ordered, I forgot to enter a code, but bought it, and it was on backorder.
When it became Amazon's Deal of the Day ($40.99) I cancelled DD, and ordered from Amazon.
I figured it would be worth the extra dollar to escape the back order hell that is DD.
And it was. I'm holding my new Blu-ray in my hands as I type this. Yay Amazon!

This is back on sale for $39.99 at DeepDiscount. Amazon currently has it for that price right now as well:

Note: DD's details page for it seems to be broken right now, but you can still order it from the search page I've linked to.

Don't forget to order thru Bing for cashback, if it's still applicable. When I ordered this set in November from DD, I had a $5 off coupon, plus the cashback from Bing which reduced the total to about $33. Bing isn't much, but every little bit helps these days.

I jumped on this. I am watching a copy of it right now that cost me significantly more and it will go back when I get this much cheaper copy in. Thanks for bringing this sale back to light.
