All Criterion Blu-rays, $13 at Barnes & Noble
Big thread in DVD bargains, but I figured I'd put this here just in case any BD-only people stopped checking that forum.
All Criterions, DVD and BD, are on sale at 50% off.
Members get an extra 10% off that price, and have access to $5 off any title coupons.
Non-members (and members) have access to 25% off one title coupons.
Also 12% cashback through Bing, or various percentages at a few other cashback sites.

Asked yesterday for title to be changed, removing the "w/ membership/coupon", since even non-members can get down to the ~$13 price with the general use coupon.

it's $40- 10% (members discount) which makes it $36.
50% off of $36 makes it $18 - the $5 off coupon makes it $13 (plus tax).
shame that the store selection is so weak for Bds where I am.

It's possible there may be another discount you can use, AAA? or something else to get it lower, not sure.

Most Criterion Blu-rays are $40 retail.
So members get them for $20, minus 10% membership for $18, then the two different $5 coupons would bring it down to $13, or the two different 25% off coupons would bring it down to $13.50
Non-members would be $20, minus 25% for $15.
Note that the two 25% coupons expire today, the $5 coupons are good until 11/22/09 and 01/24/10.
If you want more than 5 or so titles, buying a membership for $25 would pay for itself. Buy it on Bing to get cashback as well.

All the coupons are in post #1 of the regular B&N thread here. Lasermovies does a great job of constantly updating that post with all of the current coupons. There are a few coupons besides the ones mentioned here for people wanting to stock up.
They are also probably in the big thread I linked in the first post.

It doesn't look like this applies to preorders, for those nutjobs like me who've already picked up everything that's out now.

Thanks for posting this. I'm a B&N member. Got Wings of Desire, Pierrot Le Fou, Wages of Fear, Seventh Seal, and Made In The USA. Used coupons for all but the last two, but got 12% Bing cashback on all of them.

This part is rather YMMV. Yes, I know what the coupon says, but more than 50% of clerks and managers that I've encountered have refused to interpret the coupon that way, or to attempt scanning it.

Now the $19.99 titles for $4 are definitely YMMV, but it generally worked for me.
I hope this comes out right, but I think a lot of the problems people have with not getting the coupons accepted, and most of the customer service horror stories you see on these forums, has to do with a person's attitude and demeanor at the register.
I'm always extremely polite and friendly, but also try to appear knowledgable (I fake that part), confident, and insistent.

I had been good about not buying the ones I already own on DVD, but at ~$13 per I'm leaning towards double-dipping.
I'm going to try to continue resisting on The Last Emperor though. The lack of extras and presentation problems have me convinced that I'm fine with the DVD set.

Re: All Criterion Blu-rays, $13 at Barnes & Noble
All I need to say is:
damn you OP!
damn you B&N!
damn me if my wife only knew!
I wasn't going to cave, but then I did. In for:
Monsoon Wedding, Kagemusha and Last Emperor (all blu)
I will be by a different store on my way home and have them holding Ran, Seventh Seal and the Last Emperor 4d set. Of those who have seen it, should I stay with the Last Emporer blu or pick up the 4d set (I can use the $5 coupon on the set making them virtually the same price)?
Also, I was going to keep Ran and return Kagemusha - others agree with this one? I haven't seen either.
As others have mentioned, they wouldn't let me use the $5 coupon. The sell price had to be over $20, not the retail.

Personally, I would keep both. However, if you MUST return one, I guess I would say Kagemusha, since it's still in-print (unlike Ran) and could always be picked up again later.

Re: All Criterion Blu-rays, $13 at Barnes & Noble
After a little thinking, I have decided to keep both - at this price it is well worth it. I did stop by another B&N on my way home and they didn't have a problem taking my $5.00 coupons as well as the 25% off. It is interesting how they apply them - for the $39.99 movies, they $5 off coupon made them $11.93 and the ones without the coupon were $13.50.
Overall, a great deal!
