Whats up with the 4 ?

I was asking the same thing back in 1996!! ask Devlin/Emmerich and Fox. I guess they badly wanted a hip nickname for it, but "ID" didn't cut it.

Independence Day is on the 4th of July. So they just added the 4 after ID.

So did I. How dumb are we? That would have been "IJ4".

Regardless of it being ID or ID4, both are useless with the search feature here. :'(

I'm waiting for a combined theatrical/extended version (the Blu Ray only has the theatrical), although if it drops to 9.99 I might get this and double dip for a future re-release.

I was reluctant to upgrade due to the lack of extended version. After getting this I found that A) the HD cut is so superior I didn't miss the extra footage and B) the extended cut really isn't that big a deal. Other than the "nice driving pop" line everything was redundant and not needed.

I'm just finding that I if the pq and aq get good reviews, I'm not going to wait for a new release that may never come or come years from now. It's not like this is a common problem and I'm finding less and less time for extras anyway (not that I think they should leave them off).

But I got this now because it was the right price and I made the same decision with the Usual Suspects when it was really low.

An example of where I've kept the original is Memento. In that case, the reviews of the BD were almost universally bad, so maybe I do have to wait and maybe it never gets re-released. But in that case, I'm not gonna upgrade for something that's not even been done well.
