Thats what Lost's MSRP is. It was reduced before the set actually released.

I wonder if Border's pulled some of their blu's off the shelf during this event. The Border's I went to in Northglenn, Colorado had only 2 side-by-side display stands of blu-rays. There wasn't much of a selection, and the prices were extremely high.

^ I went to the same Borders yesterday and had the same feeling, although I did pick up one I wanted--"LA Confidential" for $14.50.

Picked up DRAG ME TO HELL and KAGEMUSHA for $19.98 each. I'm happy.

Weird. Amazon.com and dvdpricesearch.net list the wrong MSRP then...

Nothing was pulled from the sale.

Many stores went through a complete liquidation of their DVD/BD selection late last year/early this year.

When will this awful chain go out of business?

Charging MSRP on everything, or more on the web....please. What a joke.

What's funny is that back ... 5-7 years ago or so, Borders actually had the BEST prices in our area. They were extremely competitive with Best Buy and had lots of titles that BB did not stock (horror/foreign) and lots of Criterion.

Then the prices slowly crept up until finally EVERYTHING that was not on sale was MSRP.

I used to get some hella good deals back in the day when they had a 20% off coupon.

Ancient history though. :)

Eh. They're a book store that sells some media to make profit. I don't mind their usual high prices. You can't expect every store to be a discount chain.

That said, I'm a cheap ass who always waits for the best prices, and I've still bought hundreds of DVDs at Borders over the years. You just have to use their coupons and buy what rarely goes on sale elsewhere.

The last time Borders had a 50%-off sale, I picked up The Transporter BD, which had the wrong sticker price (higher than MSRP). At the register, the correct price rang up. On Saturday I tried to buy another movie with the wrong sticker price, but Borders stuck with the price on the sticker ($40 instead of $25).

Yeah before Blu-Ray took off Borders actually used to have some pretty decent DVD prices/sales.

Damn, wish I would have seen LA Confidential. I ended up getting Shaun of the Dead for ~ 14 bucks. They had a lot of discs but nothing that was even a mild deal after discount.

Re: 50% off Blu-ray @ Borders coupon

I don't go to Borders that much since I typically walk out disappointed nearly every time I go there. Never have what I want and everything is full price and can be had a lot cheaper online. This 50% coupon was worth me making the trip. I went to one and they didn't have much of a selection. Went to another and the selection was even worse but I did manage to get a copy of Bug's Life for $20 (sells for $28 on Amazon) and Gran Torino for $18. Not bad.

The irritating think about the Blu-ray section at the Borders I went to was that every Blu-ray was in it's own thick plastic locking clamshell. Even worse, they were all behind a glass door under lock and key. All you can see are the titles on the side of the spline. You have to ask someone to open the case so you can see the price or read the synopsis. I doubt I'll ever return to a Border's unless they have another 50% off coupon which barely, just barely, gave me the urge to go there.
