re: Walmart / walmart.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray
I'm bummed to hear about Treasure Planet not being available. I was banking on using my John Carter check on that.... My next hope would be for The Rocketeer (but the store by me didn't have that either). Anyone else recall seeing The Rocketeer? Thanks.

I assume the $9.99 price will jump up tomorrow? If I had seen them at that price with the movie cash, I probably would've gotten them. Oh yes, and I looked carefully at the handful of Disney BDs they carry in stock... maybe 10 at most. I own every single one of them, so unless someone knows of another Disney BD release before 8/5 (one that they will actually bother to carry), I guess my $10 coupon is going to get wasted. Thanks Walmart for having such a great inventory and selection! All I got is the Transformers BD and food (the latter being what Walmart is most useful for and as happens too often they rang up an extra item I didn't buy and ripped me a couple dollars... unfortunately checking the receipt in detail as you leave the line is not easy). EDIT: I just looked up that Pete's Dragon BD (one of my all-time favorite Disney movies) comes out on 8/2, so one would think: my problem is solved, I'll use my $10 off coupon then, but who wants to bet that Walmart won't carry Pete's Dragon either? I don't suppose anyone will know (least of all anyone at Walmart) if Walmart will carry Pete's Dragon until 8/2? I bet it won't show up in any ads either. |

Probably from the John Carter Blu release. There was a $10 coupon offer for another Disney title in the case only at Wal-Mart.

I used my $10 coupon on Pirates 4 to get it for $14 and change.

Any one in Denton, TX. looking for The Ninja Turtles 1,2,3, the store on Loop 288 had 4 of them.

A list of several hundred lower priced titles at walmart.com. All of these have free shipping to store so long as they remain in stock (YMMV):

re: Walmart / walmart.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray
The 1st Walmart I checked didn't have any Blade BDs. I checked another one which only had Blade Trinity on BD. No Blade or Rocketeer BDs anywhere. Have other people only found Trinity at their store? I imagined it would be either none (like the 1st store) or both.
However, I did see 1 Disney BD that I didn't already have hidden away in another display. It was Treasure Buddies for $26.96 - $10 coupon = $16.96 which is still rather steep for a mediocre buddies movie. The 3rd employee I asked (the first 2 had never even heard of the movie Treasure Planet or Rocketeer) said they used to carry Rocketeer BD but it was removed/discontinued. I didn't even know it came out. I haven't seen it yet, but it was a Disney BD I didn't have. Foiled by Walmart again. |
re: Walmart / walmart.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray
Don't buy Treasure Buddies. The Buddies movies are made for kids. Don't get me wrong, I know that movies can be made for families, or even made for kids but still enjoyable for adults, but the Buddies movies aren't like that, they are just for kids.

GI Joe Rise of Cobra ( 2 disk digital copy edition) is also 5 dollars.

re: Walmart / walmart.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray
Finally found Transformers at the Kennett Square Walmart. It was hidden behind multiple copies of the DVD version. There were three copies left if anyone is still looking. No luck there with the Star Trek though.

I see multiple versions on Walmart.com, but the new single disc is $12.xx and the cheapest for the 2-disc set is $19.xx. Thanks. |

Grabbed Paranormal Activity 3 for $7 shipped from the website just a few minutes ago. I guess Super 8 is currently $5 as well, but it's currently out of stock online. Might be worth keeping an eye out for.

^ yup, just got my pa3 in the mail today. Pretty good price for a newish release. Highly recommend super 8 too if it becomes available at that price!

re: Walmart / walmart.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray
I went by a 4th Walmart and decided to stop in to see if their inventory sucked as bad as my nearby stores. Their inventory was slightly better. They only had Blade Trinity (not the first Blade), 1 $15 TMNT 1-3 set, and several Transformers 2 BDs for $5 (not that I needed that any more).
I finally saw The Rocketeer BD at this Walmart, and even though I had never seen it, it was a Disney BD I didn't own (and probably a better choice than Treasure Buddies), so I bought it in desperation figuring Walmart won't get any new Disney BDs between now and coupon expiration on 8/5/12. I was disappointed that this was a BD only with no extras (theatrical trailer doesn't count in my book). My choice was either waste the coupon or get this... works out to almost $12 with tax. Was $19.96 the cheapest The Rocketeer BD has ever been (I think $16.49 is the cheapest ever at Amazon)? |

Ha, I went to college in Denton for five years. I went to 6 different stores here from Sugarland to Pearland to multiple stores in Houston...AND NOTHING :). I've given up at this point to be honest. Ebay wants roughly $30 which is ridiculous. I'll wait until a few more stores than just Wally get it I guess.

re: Walmart / walmart.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray
If anyone here is near Muskegon, Michigan, the store on Henry St. had plenty of everything in it's display which was facing the back of the store, which is why it looked full.

re: Walmart / walmart.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray
Anybody see Blade II yet? It comes out on the 13th officially, doesn't it?
Edit: Or not. Apparently it came out Tuesday, which makes more sense. Best Buy is selling it for $10, while Wal-Mart is selling it for $15. |
