Stop by your local Blockbuster and see if they've got it pre-owned. It'll either be $6.99 or $9.99, or there's the rare chance it'll be $12.99.

My Walmart completely redid their DVD / BD section. No more glass cases.

You had movies in glass cases? Wow, I've never seen that. Video games, yes, but never movies...

Yup! Most of the BDs were behind glass.

At least one of the Walmart stores in my area sticks their Blu-ray titles, all of their Blu-ray titles, in glass cases, even the $10 ones. Let's just say that I don't business with any retailer who does that.

Why? Is it that big of a deal? The only time I don't like it is when you ask a clerk to get something out for you and they act all put out. Other than that I really don't mind. However, I did hear that Wal-Mart across the board will be doing away with the locked cases and I heard that it doesn't curb their loss by theft. What I would really like to see them do away with are those spider wraps that damage 90% of all sets they put them on.

The Target near me revamped their video game department and put all their games under lock and key, even the cheap PS2, Xbox 360, PSP, PS3 and Wii games. Should I not patronize them anymore since they did that?

They had something like on the Dr. Zhivago digibooks at Target when I was in there last week. What a great way to ruin the packaging....especially the digibooks.

I found Blind Swordsman: Zatoichi and The Legend of Drunken Master at Wal-mart today for $15 a piece. This is a pretty good value.

Sorry if this has already been mentioned, but I was at one of my Wal Marts and they had Smallville Season 8 BD for $24.96 and I believe Supernatural Season 4 at that price as well.

Both stores here have all their DVDs and Blu-ray in the glass cases. There is a very small section near the $5 DVD bin with a few Blu-ray and DVD catalog releases, but thats it.

I hope they do away with the cases here.

Are they actually in a game case or the individual plastic ones on the shelf?

re: Walmart / walmart.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray

My Walmart took another turn for the worse (even though they are supposedly getting the big electronics remodel in a few months). The BD section is now 2 small sections and the larger wall where the BDs were previously are a bunch of blue cardboard shelves which were 90% empty and had only a few things like The Love Boat. I went there looking for Resident Evil Extinction BD (for the $8.99 PM to Fry's) and surprise surprise they said they were sent back recently. It seems like it wasn't that long ago that I saw all of the Resident Evil BDs there, but I checked and Extinction has been deleted from Best Buy, Target, and Walmart. My Sam's Club and Costco don't have many BDs (though Costco has more), and Fry's is too far to drive for BDs.

Someone else posted that their Walmart remodel in progress didn't add much to the DVD and BD sections... it just made the aisles even wider. So I've lost my hope for a reversal in the horrible inventory trend. :-( It's seriously getting to the point that whenever I want to PM a Fry's ad (since Best Buy or Target rarely have prices worth PM'ing after Circus City went down) that no store which carries BDs (i.e. Best Buy, Target, Sam's Club, Walmart, or Costco) will have that title in stock because it's "too old" and these stores have such limited inventory. The best selection on older titles is at Fry's which is the furthest away, and their DVD/BD prices are still too high for me, or if it's on sale their inventory is wiped out almost immediately. Soon Amazon may be the lone source for anything besides new releases... at least where I live.

I'd buy them if it was a complete set for $15.00.

re: Walmart / walmart.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray

My cousin in Nashville who works at a Walmart told me his story got in a Father's Day display of $15 Blu-rays, and one of included titles is Forrest Gump. I went to my local store and FG was still priced at $25 though. I did see the $15 Father's Day display, but FG was not with them.

So I took one from the $25 rack, got someone to scan it, and sure enough it came up at $15 even though it wasn't priced as such.

This title is on backorder at DD, so if you want it right away right around the same price, head to WM and scan it just to check.

Thanks for the tip. I'll get it for that price. I went to one of the better WM stores today, and they were doing a major DVD reset. Everything was pulled. I'll have to go back tomorrow to see what they have out now...
