Re: Walmart / walmart.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up that Walmart's Black Friday sale on movies is today. It's in store only. I'm not going into stores right now, but if you are there are some deals today.

Was just in WM earlier this morning and they didn't have movies on sale, at least at BF prices. They did require everyone to push a cart due to this being an "event" and it'll help with social distancing. The "event" will last till Black Friday is over.

^ That sounds like a good idea on paper (everyone pushing carts) but won't most people just leave them all over the store?

There's many reports on Blu-ray.com of the usual Black Friday shippers set up in the automotive or grocery department.

The selection is not great this year. Everything of note, BD And 4K, has been added to the spreadsheet:

Wasn't at my store but it was early in the morning.

Damn, wasn't in grocery. At least at my location. Never checked in automotive. Usually, at my location, BF movies were in the front or main side aisles. Guess I'll try automotive next time I go.

Re: Walmart / walmart.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray

Just got back from one of the WMs here and the BF movies were out (plus a lot of kitchen, vacuum, and other things). At this store they were in the middle of the main isle to the front of the store. All of the BF stuff was in the middle of the outside main aisle and circled about half way around the store.

That's a pretty weak showing. Nothing worth risking COVID-19 over.

The way Covid is increasing, nothing is worth the risk. I'm down to groceries & medical & that's it until things get better. They're talking about expecting 1 million new cases a week in USA for the time being. & I wear 3 masks (N95, surgical & face shield).

There were only a few people at my local WM. I got there 5 minutes before opening and only a handful of people were waiting. There were far fewer people than ordinary shopping hours. I was able to grab what I wanted and checkout easily. This sale isn't exactly packing the stores.

My Snl went to our local Walmart near our house & she said she could not find the 3-4 4K movies I was looking for.

Re: Walmart / walmart.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray

Visited the 4 closest WM's to me yesterday. All 4 stores had the sale stuff in cardboard displays in various main aisles. Only 1 store actually had them in front of the (now vastly reduced) media section.
Best part of the sale was the $15 LP's. I picked up 4 of them.
The movie selection was pitiful. The only thing I grabbed was Knives Out 4K for $10.

Went to Walmart early yesterday and it was not crowded at all. Movies were in the middle aisle near women’s clothing (hard to find), picked up Invisible Man BD $7.96, Onward BD $9.96, Three From Hell BD $5.96, Complete Ash vs Evil Dead DVD $12.96 & Mandolorian LP $15.00

Trying to not go out much but I think my girlfriend needs a few things from Walmart. If I see these I might get the 4K of The Rise of Skywalker. Possibly Midway. Nothing I’m in dire need of though.

Since Walmart started their club to compete with Amazon Prime they apparently will not offer free shipping on all orders during the holidays unless you sign up for the club. Unless it is still too early for holiday free shipping. Is anyone offering no minimum free shipping this year?

It doesn't look like it. Best Buy usually starts theirs the last week of Oct., and this year nothing so far. Did Target also always have free shipping? Not this year, it seems.

BestBuy is weird. On certain items, I can get free no minimum shipping, like Uncut Gems. I stick that one in my cart and it automatically gives free shipping, even if order is under $35 or whatever the FS threshold is.

They’re doing local fulfillment shipping from your neighborhood store if they have it in stock. If they don’t, then it has to come from the main online distribution, and so will be subject to the normal rules for shipping charges and free shipping minimums.

Re: Walmart / walmart.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray

Stopped by two different Walmart B&M in my area this evening.

I know they weren't offering much in terms of 4K UHDs but both stores were pretty picked over when it came to those.

Couldn't find a copy of Rise of Skywalker, which was the main thing I wanted from their Black Friday sales.

I don't think many UHDs were ever included in the Walmart shippers. I had to snag regular retail copies of the UHDs from the regular media section, which still rang up the other day at Black Friday pricing.

There were only a small handful on sale if I'm not mistaken in the shippers.

Angel Has Fallen
The Hitman's Bodyguard
John Wick 1-3
Knives Out
Midway
Rambo: Last Blood
Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker
3 From Hell

Both Walmarts I went to had re-modeled their Media Section and had much less than I've normally seen over the past 8-months. Didn't see any copies of those titles in section (other than 3 From Hell).

I might check another Walmart about 20+ minutes away this weekend for The Rise of Skywalker.

Re: Walmart / walmart.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray

When did their black friday stuff end?

I went in this past Monday (Nov 16th) for a few non-movie things, and saw the big BF dumps with the various colored "PROMO" stickers on them. I grabbed Rise of Skywalker 4K and the regular blu-ray release as well as Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. I grabbed the two SW titles because the blu-ray only edition had a colored PROMO sticker that wasn't on their little code sheet tapped to the dump box. I figured I'd scan them both in and then I'd delete whatever version was more expensive.

All three titles came up full price. Someone called a customer service person for us at the register and when I explained I got them from the Black Friday bins she said "Uh, yeah, that's because the Black Friday sales are over and these are all normal price now" despite them having big PROMO stickers on them and four giant bins in the isle with the sale prices coded on the bins.

Didn't buy any movies - will just stick to finding them cheap on Amazon.

Thanks, Walmart.

Per their ad circular, the movie prices were only good for Sat and Sun.

Re: Walmart / walmart.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray

I just did my weekly shopping trip today, and Walmart had a display of picked-over DVDs and blu-rays in the electronics section. Had a few might have picked up if they were blu-ray and not DVD (American Gods S1 and S2 for $5.96 each). I didn't check prices, but they still had the color-coded thing on the display.
