(I always use DVDTalk's price search tool and/or DVDPricesearch.com before posting)
DD's usually beats or matches Amazon's prices, and everyone else has it for ~$18>, so I consider it pretty good.

Why was this movie so unpopular? I really liked it! Wish someone would make a movie out of the third book, if it's good, I've never read it.

2010 was great. I loved it. Of course it's not nearly as good as 2001 but still. It tried to accomplish that same feel/style. I think it did a good job. I will be picking this up on Blu. Hands down!!!

Up until a couple of days ago, American History X and well as The Wedding Singer had the same price.

Tango and Cash, American History X, Collateral Damage, 2010 all release on the same day I believe, and all are at the $14.99 pre-order price at amazon.com

My favorite scene in this one is when Schieder puts the pen in the air and flicks it to show how the Discovery is spinning in orbit around Jupiter.

I remember reading eons ago that Tom Hanks bought the rights to 3001. Both 2061 and 3001 are a great continuation of the story of Dr's. Heywood Floyd, Frank Poole, and HAL. I was blown away by what happened to HAL in 3001. I don't think the books were crappy at all, in fact 2061 could be another great movie if done right. 3001 though seemed more of an unfilmable type of story. at least one that wouldn't translate will to film.
Thanks for the heads up OP, snagged this and Let the Right One In. I probably won't make them a double feature.

Interesting responses everyone! Thanks for humoring me! I didn't even know that there were a total of FOUR books!
I think more movies could be good. A lot of times good movies come from blah books!

I liked the last two books as well and thought they were a lot of fun (yes, a lot of people knock the 3rd book, but I thought it was cool). I think they definitely could have made 2061 into a movie, it's just unfortunate they didn't get a chance to do it before Roy Scheider passed.
FYI: I read the anniversary editions of the first two novels and he changed them to more match the movies and the science of the day.

Do you think the price will jump up after this is released? Or will it stay at 14.99?
Also, I never pre-ordered anything. Does it charge you right then and there or will it charge you once it ships?

Warner has many more 'budget' titles planned. These will be sub $20 for a long time.

This is now $13.99 at Amazon, for those interested.

They always do this, though. Amazon movies go on sale, "their" price goes on sale as well. It's automatic, from what I can tell. Maybe the other retailer doesn't offer free shipping over $25, which would make a big difference.

FYI. I got shipping notification for this and Point Of No Return. Both shipped out today. They won't be $13.99 for long.

I don't suppose an SD DVD version with a 16x9 transfer was quietly released alongside this?

Not sure if anyone's still interested in this title, but Amazon has it at $12.49.
Seems like a few other WB catalog Blu Rays have also dropped slightly, to between $9.99 and $12.99 (Tango & Cash, Lethal Weapon, Point of No Return, Above the Law, Under Siege, Out for Justice, Unforgiven, Adventures of Robin Hood, possibly?). Not sure if they're price matching some place, of it it's part of a larger sale, or just a new price point.
