If I didn't already have both from the sale in January ($31.99), I would so jump on this.

I picked up Prince Caspian in December for $10.00 with the coupon at the time or I would be tempted.

Some may be shocked, but I actually ordered a HD DVD today. With our shitty economy, I'm severely slowing down on purchases. Luckily, I still have my A1 player, so I decided to jump in on that $5 sale from traderbora (fulfilled by Amazon.com). I'm looking for bargains now, so I don't care what case it comes in anymore. I'll let others spend $20 on BD catalog titles. I'm done with that. I've spent way too much on BD already, so it's time to cut back. But if I can get HD content for $5, I'm going to do that. Many of those Universal titles will be out later this year on BD, but for $15 more. No thanks.

Oh hell, I'm still buying HD DVDs on the cheap too ($5.00 or less). :) Why pay four times more money for a catalog title, when the HD DVD will look just as good, and I have two players (plus a HD DVD drive in my computer) to play them on.

Welcome to the team :)

But really, it makes a lot of sense. Some of the Universal titles on Blu-ray are sometimes only improvements in Audio/Special Features while in some cases the HD DVD still has more features. I've yet to see a movie (PQ-wise) that looks better on Blu-ray compared to the previous HD DVD unless its a new transfer (Perfect Storm is a great example - though a Warner title). And for $5 or less...how can you really go wrong? Don't worry...you'll say I'll just grab a few here and a few there...and before you know it you're buying crap like The River because its only $1.50. It's a sickness.

I will be going back for more. Since I have Prime shipping, it really makes this an even better deal. I already added about 20 to my cart. I'll make some orders here and there.

I hope they add more titles, but I guess whatever is shown is all that's left. No WB titles though.

I haven't been following the pricing on this latest Bond batch. Is this the best so far?

Over in the DVD thread it appears that a VAST number of Fox and MGM titles are receiving price drops. Don't know how big, but perhaps I can finally pick some up.

Half Price Books is now carrying BCI Eclipse Blu-ray titles at $7.98 each. I picked up Vengeance and Kitaro and there were a few other titles I was unfamiliar with (I didn't see either of their Shaw Brothers releases). If you picked up their calendar with the coupons or get them by e-mail you can get these titles for as little as $3.99 or so.

I keep one TV club account open all the time just for these.

Just one small order for me, I got everything else during the B1G1 sale a few weeks ago. Even got lucky today and got a pre-order as one of my free selections!

They don't really have a worthwhile Blu-ray membership as yet. What I like to do is to join the TV Club. You can get two TV sets for $9.95. You'll then have to buy two titles at $19.95 or higher in the next year to fulfill. I just fulfilled a TV account with the following-

Doctor Who Series 4
Reaper Season 1

$9.95 enrollments

Benjamin Button Blu-ray $29.96
Midnight Meat Train Blu-ray FREE

This counts as one towards fulfillment.

Serenity Blu-ray $22.46
The Thing Blu-ray FREE

This counts as one towards fulfillment.

Total cost for this account: $62.37.

Average cost per title: $10.40.

No. But you could theoretically pick some nice special edition DVD's with good re-sale value which would further lower the cost of your Blu-rays. Or you could join the TV Club and pick two TV sets (surely you still buy TV on DVD). Either way, the deal is absolutely worth it. It's not like joining and choosing enrollment titles really costs much.
