I'm pretty happy with my LG Combo drive -- it's the playback software and various driver updates that are more or less the bane of my existence . . .

If you're using PowerDVD as your playback software, try ArcSoft Total Media Theater instead. I almost dumped Blu-ray, thinking my HTPC couldn't play it, only to figure out that PowerDVD was the problem.

That LG combo drive is great, though. Allowed me to pick up quite a few HD-DVDs back when they were on clearance everywhere.

I just received The Kingdom with French on it (Le Royaume) from Tower... has this happened to anyone else? The UPC does match up, but this is not what I want in my collection...

I assume it'll play but I'm still gonna call and ask for an exchange... ridiculous.

Could someone tell me the UPC for the proper US release?

Was this on Blu-ray or HD DVD?

If it was HD DVD you might be out of luck. It looks like Tower.com might have gotten into a deal with Universal to take the excess Canadian HD DVD inventory from for a major discount on their in-hand HD DVD inventory. This is what Fry's ended up doing.

Domestic HD DVD UPC: 25193 26652
Domestic Blu-ray UPC: 25195 05394

A good reference for Domestic UPC's would be DVDEmpire since they have the back covers in their database.

Thanks for the info. It's blu-ray and it's the same upc, weird. Think I'll just do a straight return and grab it from amazon. Wonder if it's just Universal titles? Sigh, too bad... my days of tower might be over.

Amazon now has Amadeus at $14.99. I went ahead and picked it up at BB since I was there.

Funny you say that as I was at my Best Buy when they opened the doors this morning and they only had one copy. Of course I got it. You would think that if they are going to advertise stuff in their ads they would at least have a few on hand when the store opens. They advertise it and get few to no sales while Amazon matches and sells a shitload to everyone around the country.

If someone doesn't mind ordering two and then shipping one to me in Canada send me a PM. I can either Paypal you the money or send you cash in US dollars. Thanks.

The blue shirt had to go into the stockroom to get mine.

Re: One/Only HD/BD Bargains Thread Pt. IV: Back To Bargains

From CAG
Amazon.ca just sent me an e-mail saying The Ultimate Matrix Collection on Blu-Ray will be 64% off this Friday. 36% of $139.99 (list price) is $50.40 + tax. That's before the $10 coupon (MAPNEWNCSAVE) for new accounts so $40.40.

Amazon Canada ships worldwide for movies afaik but you'll have to pay shipping. Guessing no tax for Americans so it kinda evens out. 'specially with the exchange rate at what it is.

Amazon finally matched the Best Buy price on One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, so it's now $14.99 as well.

Really? It's coming up as $26.99 for me. It may have been a mistake that was overcorrected.
