I have read rumors of a class action suit against JVC over these obviously defective players. Does anyone know if such a suit exists and if it does, how to join it? I'm so sick of this lousy player I could puke!

I know that there is a class action suit on the JVC 701.

Hey, if you include the XV-511, I'm in. At any rate, I will certainly never purchase another JVC product as long as I live.

Really - what is it about? I've had mine for over a year with no problems whatsoever.

A lawyer contacted me after he saw all my posts on just how bad they were. He said that he was putting the suit together. I told him I was interested. Especially since mine has been in the shop twice and has cost me $150.00 to fix.

I've had the 701 for a year and a half. It got sent in for repairs 6 months after purchase and it needs service again. I was going to send it to them demanding a refund for both the unit and the service. I don't know how effective that would be though.

I have a 701 and am starting to have trouble with mine and I would be interested in if there is a lawsuit with JVC.
How does a person get in contact with whomever is filing the suit?

Well my 701 has bit the dust again. I have sent it back to JVC for the third time. I have been talking to various CSR's and managers at JVC. I told them that I want a new machine and not a 701. They agree. Figure it out fixed 3 times on the same problem with the same parts replaced. The best part is that they will never admit to a real problem with these players. Come on 3 times to fix the same problem!!! This is the 3rd 701 I am on. What a piece of junk. By the way I have never heard back from the laywer on the class action suit.

Patrick,
sounds to me like there was no money in it for the lawyer, you know they are mostly "legitimized" crooks only in it for the money!

I had a JVC XV501 for around a year before I got my pioneer in november of 99. Anyway, the JAC never had any problems, I sold it cause I wanted to get a region free pioneer player cause pioneer is the best. Anyway, soon after I sold the JVC, the guy I sold it to said it stopped working all of a sudden. I felt kinda bad, but I never intend on buying a JVC product again. I have their top of the line consumer SVHS deck from a few years ago, it's never given me any problems either. But I never intend on buying another vcr anyway.
