The cold opening is inspired and funny...and then the rest of the show...

I thought the father son sitcom sketch was hilarious. Also, its a shame Mulaney wasn't a cast member, he's got chops.

I like how randomly Nasim Pedrad showed up in that Wild Wild Country parody. I guess she and Mulaney must be on good terms from their times working together.

Mulaney was a good host. He had energy and didn't read off the cards most of the time - and the times he did, it wasn't for too long and wasn't too obvious.

Even when Deniro only has one skit to worry about with a limited amount of lines, and some of them he's done in a movie, he still leans on the cards like it provides him oxygen. Like the time he hosted - horrible.

A rare non-background inclusion of Luke Null in a sketch. He's the Victoria Jackson of this SNL era.

It was a meh episode.

Something i didn't know, that Mulaney helped write most of the Stefon stuff for Hader, and would sneak new jokes into the cue cards to make Hader break

Pedrad got some applause so people remember her but when Rachel Dratch appears she gets none though she did more on the show.

Victoria Jackson had at least a presence on the show and Luke Null is invisible and nobody knows he is on the show.

Did Darrell Hammond mispronounce John's last name on purpose in the opening?

He said Mulvaney twice and I thought maybe it was a joke.

Heid Garner gets a lot of screen time and probably is somebody that might be one the of the major stars on the show in the coming years.

Jon Hamm should get more hosting gigs.

He is one of the more underrated SNL hosts.

I really enjoyed this episode and I loved the Bravo intro show spoof and sitcom reboot sketch.

God, he is SO bad on SNL. He even screwed up the "Live From New York!" part!

It's so bizarre that such a legendary actor is so bad at live performance - it's like watching Jon Lester throw a pick off to first base.

Two weeks of new shows and another break until May 5.

I thought they needed to more episodes to make up for being off for most of February during the Winter Olympics.

Mulaney is my favorite comedian right now, and I loved this episode.

The final two guest hosts and musicians Amy Schumer with Kacey Musgraves on May 12 and Tina Fey with Nicki Minaj will close out the season on May 19.

Re: SNL (S43E18) -- 04/14/18 -- H: John Mulaney -- MG: Jack White

Whatever you think of his opinions and career give him credit for marrying a hottie.

Speaking with the New York Daily News, Rob Schneider did say that Saturday Night Live is relatively the same as its former iterations in some ways, but that by "showing their hand" in politically targeting one side over the other, that's where the divide happens. And while he may have opinions on the myriad other political impressions SNL has offered up, such as Melissa McCarthy's Sean Spicer or Kate McKinnon's Kellyanne Conway, Schneider seemingly puts the bulk of the blame on Alec Baldwin-as-Trump's "hard to watch" shoulders.

The fun of Saturday Night Live was always you never knew which way they leaned politically. You kind of assumed they would lean more left and liberal, but now the cat's out of the bag they are completely against Trump, which I think makes it less interesting because you know the direction the piece is going. . . . Carvey played it respectfully. To me, the genius of Dana Carvey was Dana always had empathy for the people he played, and Alec Baldwin has nothing but a fuming, seething anger toward the person he plays.

Alec Baldwin is a brilliant actor... he's not a comedian. I don't find his impression to be comical. Because, like I said, I know the way his politics lean and it spoils any surprise. There's no possible surprise. He so clearly hates the man he's playing.
