There are literally eight SNL episodes during Sweeps. How the hell did they pick a nobody to host one of them?
Edit : Actually I think there are 12 sweeps episodes. Still, the ratings have to get hurt when the host is unknown.

Nope. While the name seems somewhat familiar I couldn't have told you anything about it, including the network it was on.

I only knew who she was before this thread b/c when they announced who was hosting during the Larry David show I looked her up then.

During her monologue she mentioned that she starred in Girl Trip. I never saw the movie, but I guess it's like Seinfeld and The 3 Tenors... where I "know" her as "the other chick".

That new chick did an awesome Kristen Schaal impression.

Nope....wasn't being sarcastic. I watched all three season of The Carmichael Show, which is where I know her from. I thought this was supposed to be a board of avid TV watchers.

That dolphin thing was based on a true story, BTW. Daniel Ibbertson went into it in his history of Ecco the Dolphin video on YouTube.

We are suppose to know her or know her now since SNL has a reputation for featuring the new upcoming and rising stars in comedy.

I can't wait until next week when we say the same thing about Chance the Rapper and who is this guy (He performed on the show before).

I'm from Chicago, so Chance is a pretty big deal around here. I had no idea who the host was this week, but she wasn't terrible.

Tiffany Haddish was everywhere this year. Her late night comedy show appearences were all over social media. I haven't seen Girl's Trip, but she's a pretty funny stand up.

I went 20 years without fast forwarding SNL sketches. The last few years I made a habit of fast forwarding everytime Leslie Jones did her weekend update routine. It's getting so hard to stomach now though. I fast forwarded most of tonights show once I got a sense, "oh, this is what this sketch is going to be." They should just write the show around Kate McKinnon like they used to do with Eddie Murphy when he was the only talented person on the show. Or just fire everyone except McKinnon, Beck Bennett, Cecily Strong, Kenan and Colin and Che.

She pretty much stole the movie in Girls Trip, which is saying something since the other 3 female leads were Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith and Regina Hall.

I agree, I had no idea who she was either until watching Girls Trip, probably the raunchiest female comedy movie since Bridesmaids. Her character gets most of the best lines and even if you never watch movies with 'all black casts' I dare you not to laugh your ass off when they are zip lining in the French Quarter.

Leslie Jones is the worst. How she got an Emmy nomination is a mystery to me. I hope she doesn't get nominated again this year.

I thought she did just fine. Monologue started slow but she won me over.

It was nice to see a rising star who seemed genuinely grateful for her success and opportunity. I thought she did a fine job as host.

I don't think Tiffany did a bad job with what she was given, but -- in a week where there were so many ripe targets in the Hollywood scandals and politics -- the sketches she was given felt like throwaways. The Mortal Kombat one was amusing, but it felt 25 years out of date.
