Re: Biggest video game regrets?

Selling my SNES and all my cartridges to have money in order to buy a PS1.

I did re-buy an SNES and my favorite cartridges not long after that (while they were still affordable/available, along with their booklets), but getting rid of my original cartridges is a huge fucking regret of mine. I've gotten rid of a lot of consoles/games, but none hit me like getting rid of the SNES and my favorite games on it.

Re: Biggest video game regrets?

I gave my Sega Genesis and all my games/accessories to my kid sister. I wish I hadn't done that, or at least I wish that I'd had a way to get them back afterwards when she didn't want 'em anymore.

I have absolutely no recollection about what happened to my NES games.

I gave my father a GameCube for his birthday, and to help kickstart his library, I gave him my copy of Super Mario Sunshine, which I disliked so much that I never even finished it. If I could do that over again, I'd have kept SMS. I've had a strange itch for a few years now to revisit it.

Buying a Wii U at launch, rather than waiting a few years until there was enough first party software.

Or buying a Vita...twice.

I would probably echo this saying buying any console at launch since the Dreamcast. The worst part is that Inalways get roped into at least a couple of terrible launch games.

Sega CD. A few ok games, but it never got much support, and soured me on Sega.

For as few games I actually had, I still don't regret my Sega CD. In fact, I didn't have a computer back then, so Compton's Interactive Encyclopedia added a lot of value for my 13 year old self!

My biggest regrets are selling some of my NES and Genesis games. I also regret all those games I got and barely played.

Re: Biggest video game regrets?

Sega CD, Wii, Wii U and to a lesser extent PS3.

And in a different way, not buying the 360 at launch.

Re: Biggest video game regrets?

I can live with buying the Wii, but WTF was I thinking buying that scale peripheral? Actually there are a ton of peripherals I have no idea why I bought over the years

(though to be fair I actually love both of these and still use my PS3 one with certain PS4 games)

And God knows how many more. Hell I even once owned this one :

I have this, and still haven't taken it out of the box. It was a Target clearance purchase.

Re: Biggest video game regrets?

I've never seen that Move steering wheel before, is that a Sony product?

I'm with you on all those other peripherals, I have all those plus Namco guncons that don't work on modern TVs, a whole bunch of Toys 2 life stuff, Kinect, and other stuff. I should've learned back with ROB or at the very least, NeGcon. I'm surprised I never got a Pokken controller, which is useful for exactly one game. Though I don't regret getting the Tatsunoko stick.

I regret getting the newest Guitar Hero, even on clearance at Costco.

Re: Biggest video game regrets?

I own a Gameboy Advance Micro and the Nintendo DSi. Neither one saw more that single digit hours of playing time compared to the hundreds playing the Advance SP and DS Lite before them

Darn, forgot about portables: PSP and Vita; like the Wii and Wii U, I just don't use them enough to justify the purchase.

Re: Biggest video game regrets?

I've bought almost every console I've ever owned at launch and I've never regretted a one.

The only regrets I can think of is buying portables. As an adult I much prefer gaming on a tv and have almost zero times when playing a portable is necessary yet I've bought a DS, DS Lite, and a 3DS and sold all of them within a month.

Re: Biggest video game regrets?

Selling:
I have kept everything in mint condition dating back to the NES(pretty impressive for an 11 year old). So it was hard to pass up selling shit along the way to fund future generations. I wish I kept my SNES, N64 & Gamecube (I do still have the NES).

I sold mint in box copies of Mega Man, MM2 & MM3 to basically fund my entire Gamecube launch. That was nice but that's easily my biggest regret.

Buying:
I saved up and bought a Power Glove but that even pales in comparison to the Kinect. What an utter piece of shit. I had set up my entire entertainment system wired through the wall and behind the wall mounted TV. When I got sick of looking at the Kinect I just cut the cord and chucked in the trash where it belonged.

I have hoarded probably over 100 games on Black Friday the last five years and still have not played 99% of them.

Yeah. It was a Sony peripheral that came out about a year or so after the Move. They didn't make many of them, so they were hard to find. They got to be quite expensive. Now not so much

Worked okay with Kart racers like ModNation and LBP Karting, but sucked for other sorts of racing games.

Re: Biggest video game regrets?

I gave away a Saturn collection that included Panzer Dragoon Saga, Burning Rangers, Guardian Heroes, Shining Force III, Dragon Force, a ton of imports, etc. for free.

I then followed that up by not purchasing my local rental stores lot of Saturn games back in 1996....which included all those and more for about $5 a pop because I thought they'd be all over the place. Silly me.
